My son qualifies for Direct Admit but hasn’t received any notification that he was accepted. However, when receiving the SSA invite, he did have the option to apply for Hutton Honors College Scholarships. He originally applied to IU on November 1st. Just trying to figure out how prospective students are notified.
I received a letter in the mail notifying me. It was about 2 weeks after my IU acceptance.
If it’s been more than a few weeks since he’s been accepted to IU, I would call Kelley and ask. They don’t send the direct admit notification at the same time as the acceptance to the university, but it should come within a few weeks of acceptance to the university.
Spoke with IU and was told somehow the query used for the mailing address only pulled the city and not the entire address so the notification was never mailed. Assured us that everything was set. Thanks for the responses.
My daughter was accepted to IU back around mid November. She still has not received any information on the Honors College. Her stats would have qualified her automatically. She logged in online, and it says she’s accepted to IU, but no mention of the Honors College. She also never received anything about the SSA Invite. IU does not seem very interested in her. She has a ACT of 34 and a 4.5 GPA.
Do you know how can I find out more information on the Honors College Acceptance and SSA Invite?
I’d call this number for the SSA and I’m guessing they can direct you where you need to go.
There’s also a Hutton number at the bottom of this website
Assuming you applied by November 1, I don’t see why you wouldn’t get into Hutton automatically/get the SSA. It’s been a very long time since I applied, so it could just be a timing issue, but calling is probably the best bet imo
Thank you.
Indiana is having issues on the IT side - I had to email Hamilton-Lugar to tell them I hadn’t received anything by mail confirming Direct Admit status or merit aid. They sent it right along afterward.
Also, I think interest from IU is gained by filling out the Selective Scholar Application. It’s a signal of serious consideration, hence making them more likely to talk money (from what I’ve heard).
I thought the Selective Scholar Application was by invite. That is one of the things we are missing. We never received anything after her acceptance letter, and merit award.
Can we fill out the Selective Scholar Application without an invite to do so?
If she met the Direct Admit for Hutton, it seems like she should’ve received an SSA application. I didn’t get anything about the SSA until I reached out to Hamilton-Lugar to alert them I hadn’t received emails or materials, so it might be worth contacting IU to clarify if she qualified.
My daughter (OOS, got IU acceptance, applied for DIrect Admit to Kelley, National merit SF), received her SSA invite yesterday, for Hutton Honors eligibility. SSA appears to be via invite only. Hope this info helps!
