Hi! Trying to figure out if my S has a chance at Ivy recruiting. He’s a novice HWT jr, and is working hard to bring his 2k time down. Does anyone have a sense of what threshold 2k time the Ivies (especially HYPS + MIT) are looking for in the mens hwt crew recruits? He’s 6’5", and I don’t know if that affects the requisite 2k time as well. Thank you for your help!
Depends on the Ivy…HYP will be looking for something sub 6:25 range to even garner interest. And…equally important, your son needs to have the academics to match the erg score. I cannot emphasize that last point enough. Your son can certainly do some work now by filling out on-line forms and emailing the recruiting coach (usually assist. Coach)
If you search the Athletic Recruiting sub threads here and put in rowing you can get quite a bit of good advice.
