Hybrid programs? Online? Nursing.. Radiology..

Hi everyone. I’m in a bit of a stand still as I’m not sure where to go or what to do next. I’m currently a Medical Assistant at a local private practice in Virginia where I reside. Prior to that, I was a pharmacy technician. So I have credentials as a CPhT and CCMA. These are both just certifications and nothing crazy… but I wanted to do things like this before fully committing to college and deciding if health care was the right field for me.

I’m really interested in going back to school for Radiology or possibly even Nursing… but I cannot attend full time as I HAVE to work to make ends meet. I have been trying to find a hybrid program where I can do most of the degree online and practicum at a facility near me. I haven’t really been able to find this yet… I am hoping someone on here has the same issue and has a solution or at least a bit of advise. I feel as though everything requires me to quit my job and get a part time job… but I just can’t do that.

Even if you have suggestions of a different program or career that would allow me to do this, that would be beneficial too. I’m kind of stuck on radiology and nursing… but am willing to research all of my options.

Thank you in advance!

I also wanted to mention that I DO NOT have an associates degree. My highest level of education is high school. I withdrew from classes from my local community college. Overall, I’m not even sure of the steps I need to take to obtain either or these titles.

Either of those fields will require college courses. You should start by taking the general studies classes. Those can probably be done in the evening or online through the community college. You could look into medical coding. Most of the training is online and once you’ve been doing it for a while you can usually work from home. Any direct patient care jobs will require you to eventually take classes in person and do clinicals full time as well. Good luck!
