Any one who smokes in my room. I would report them and get a different roommate unless we really got a long well (in which case she'd know not to smoke in the room right?)

Gaming: It is just the whole idea of it all and the fact that every single person in my nerd dorm did it. My roommate even had the courtesy to talk on his headset when I was trying to do my homework. I seriously don't know how people waste their lives on that stuff. I have seen it wreck lives, it is that bad at my dorm. If you're moderate that's fine but I've never seen a moderate before (except maybe one of my friends but seriously there aren't many that I know: you either do it or you don't). It might just be a reaction from living in that nerd dorm for a year.

Why do homework in the dorms anyways? Just go to the library...

is what will tick me off.

Since I was eleven I had my own bedroom and my own bathroom. I will share a room/bathroom with another person/other people. I will be nice about it. But I will not like it.

Happily, my frosh housing is a suite-- I'll be in a room with one other person, sharing a bathroom with just three other people. sighs with relief

I don't know if I could handle sharing a bathroom with a whole wing/floor of people, or sharing a room with like three other students.

I don't know what it's like to sleep in same room as another human being (who's not family) for long periods of time.

This question had me stuck for a while, until someone brought it up in another thread.

SNORING.

I am the soundest sleeper imaginable. I've slept through fire alarms, fireworks and a huge array of loud noises, but for some reason I have major, major issues sleeping in the same room as a snorer.

*--R

I've never, ever slept in the same room as anyone else for more than maybe a week at a time, and those people were family. Very loud snoring would be so detrimental to my sleep that I would probably have to request a roommate change, even if he was otherwise a nice guy. I'm also a mildly messy person, but I never touch other people's stuff, and I always keep common areas very tidy (but no one can expect my desk to stay neat). I do play PC games a lot, and provided I use headphones, it isn't my fault if that annoys someone else.

Yeah, sleeping with snorers definitely stiinks, mostly because all you can think about all night is how much you just want to smother them to death with their pillow...

But don't they make products to help stop/reduce snoring? You'd think that if you knew you snored you'd have the courtesy to use them.

lots of things tick me off. kleptomania, having sex, snoring, teeth grinding, being unaware of personal hygiene (e.g. farting, sneezing/coughing without coving mouth, leaving used tissues lying around, not cleaning up their messes), using my stuff without asking, talking on the phone ENDLESSLY...etc.

How could you possibly be bothered by someone grinding his own teeth? How do you even notice that?

ok, trust me. when its the middle of the night and your roommate is grinding their teeth in their sleep, its EXTREMELY LOUD. my brother does it, and i get woken up by the noise even though his room is down the hall from mine.

I am fairly easygoing, so it would probably take some effort on the part of my roommate to make me angry. Things that would do the trick include having sex with me in the room, having sex in my bed, smoking in the room, keeping animals (I'm allergic to things with fur) and taking/using my stuff without asking me first.

Uh oh... I'm a snorer :-x

If my roomate snores, I'm gonna be ****ed. But honestly, I just hope I don't end up with the dorm's coke dealer

I can't say ****ed? unbelievable

Having sex in my bed would set me off..
[/QUOTE]
I'm sure it would :D :D :D

naughty naughty

I'm pretty tolerant. Loud music is just fine, as long as it isn't all rap, all the time. I don't mind a huge mess, I don't mind dirty clothes. I don't mind smoking, or staying up all night. I don't mind very very heavy drinking. Snoring is just fine, nudity is ok (in limited amounts), and even the occasioanl sexiling. But, it will really really **** me off if my roomate is the quiet, nerdy/dorky anti-social kid who stays in to play video games all the time, or never stops studying. He doesn't ahve to be mr. popular as hell frat president, but anti-social kids **** me off. I'm kind of worried because he hasn't returned my email, has not posted on the DePauw '09 discussion board, and he's not on facebook.

Using/breaking my stuff, puking/****ing in my bed, having sex in my bed, and taking care of "personal business" while I am fully conscious will prolly get me annoyed too.

maybe he's just on vacation

I'll give hime the benifit of the doubt.

I think I'll try looking him up with directory assistance and see if I can call him.

Codasco, that person that you described was my roommate (except for the studying [that I don't mind, I get that being an engineer] b/c all he did was game). And I feel the same way as you. He would end conversations (not that I cared to have them but out of kindness) in the middle by putting on his headphones to play CS. It about killed me living with him. I hope that something great will happen next year b/c that was about the worst choice I could have ever been stuck with for my personality. Blech.
