Weak chance unless you attend one of the strongest high schools in the country.

What goes on outside of schoolwork? That’s a big question.

No ECs? Doesn’t bode well…

Weak chances in terms of academics?

Btw, top 5%

ECs I will PM

SAT I and IIs are excellent. However, your grades are below average for HYPS - too many Bs.

Yeah your subject title for this makes you come off as a snob. Anyway, you’re not competitve for HYPSM because of your almost straight B’s junior year, and you taking 13 classes senior year doesn’t sound too possible. Try being more modest next time, but best of luck.

Weak chances, indeed. You’re not as competitive as you think, toots.

Sorry people.
The only reason I wrote that on my chances thread is because I wanted attention from many chance threads. And yes, I am not competitive.

Thanks guys!

What if my rank is top 5%?
Doesn’t that indicate grade deflation?

And we have a different grading system, as you can see.
Please help me only in terms of academics.

Thanks fellow applicants.

Depends, on the rest of your school in terms of grade deflation. You have a lot of APs, which is a good sign, but you also have a lot of Bs, which is not a good sign. Your SAT scores are good, or decent when it comes to HYPS. Good SAT II scores - you should send them all.

Need to know ECs to give a solid chance though. Based on your scores I will presume you have decent, moving on towards good, ECs and thus your chances are slightly above average… In other words 10 to 15% chance at HYPS.

Yes, I do have a lot of Bs.
But doesn’t rank rule?

I mean, if our school is a private school, but we have deciles, and we are extremely competitive.

But straight As senior year, will definitely boost my chances? No?

My counselor is writing about the upward trend and how after getting straight B+s junior year,
I had a passion for learning and took double amount of AP courses, and received straight As.

Chance booster?

I will PM my ECs.

Thanks CC members.

*PS:
Once again, the title is somewhat suggestive and may come across arrogant to you.
Sorry, just had to attract attention.

Best of luck to all of you.

PS, compared to our val, he has As and A-s, and 3 Bs junior year.

Boost chances? Minimal.
Though your GPA increases (mainly because of APs), the number of Bs you receive is all over the place. If you received 6 Bs in freshman year, then 3 in sophomore, then 2 in junior and none in senior then it would have shown an upward trend and it would have been good for you. If you get a B in junior year, it is bad.

The fact that you are taking that many APs is definitely good, but then again the college admissions officers might think that you will not be able to handle such a load after all those Bs. It can work both ways.

If your valedictorian is like that, then they will either presume that your school is bad, or that your class is bad. If those are his grades from classes other than APs, then they may (big maybe) presume there is grade deflation, but grade deflation is rare and usually exclusive for known magnet schools.

Our school is one of the best in the country.
Thanks for your input.

I looked through your data again. They will not presume grade deflation. Your SAT II scores correlate with your grades in school. If you had a 800, and got a B or a B- in more than two or three subjects then they would have valid reason to do so, but that is not the case. They will take your academics as they are. Really you would want an UW 4.0 to get into HYPS. 3.9 and below do not look good for HYPS.
