What do you think my chances of gaining acceptance to these schools are?

Yale ?
Penn?
Columbia?
Dartmouth?
Cornell?

You'll probably get into an Ivy if you apply to all of them. It's hard to say which ones though. It's funny because I guessed that you were Indian before I read your ethnicity.

You're in at cornell, probably at penn, good chance at dartmout...columbia and yale are crapshoots.

no one is 100% in at any ivy league..

Decent stats. You'll get into at least one Ivy. Well, it also depends on what you put down as your intended major.

One more thing. Naming all those awards on the apps is a bit overdone....
Naming some important ones will be enough; or else, the adcoms might think you are doing some "padding."

well all the awards are legit...and not all of them were included in the app

I don't even know what some of those awards mean?

Why do you "really need[] an evaluation"? Nothing you can do at this point other than wait 2 weeks.

Maybe it's the anxiety of waiting 2 weeks?

I am addicted to this forum. Maybe it's this freedom of speech thing that's got me totally excited.

Hmmm... My friend got a "likely" letter from Dartmouth with much less than your stat... :)

I am new to this site, please forgive the clumsiness. I am shocked. My son got a likely letter from Columbia and by the standards here he should not have. Little community service, no clubs or leadership. Limited ECs: varsity tennis, chamber orchestra, both all 4 years of high school. 2 languages, French and Latin to the AP level, in addition to full slate of toughest Engl, science, math and hist. courses. 2350 SAT, 770s or above on the SAT 2s. Why did he get in?

Maybe he was lucky.

Is ramaswami flame?

not a flame, see his post history

ramaswami, good job for your son, but are you seriously asking why he got in? Because from the way you phrased it, and just common sense it's pretty obvious your son has a great record and you know it.

Solid chance

It is obvious ramaswami's son has low stats and it was luck that got him into Columbia. Uh, yea, ok.

The word ramiswami is Hindu. Perhaps your son is an under represented minority.

I mean the name Ramaswami is Hindu. Perhaps your son is an under represented minority. I have noticed on some other threads that some of the postes who received ikely letters were URM's.
