I am an international student..

Hi,

I'm an international student from Asia about to graduate.. I'm looking into applying to Law School this coming Fall. I have a couple questions I'd like to ask you guys.. I appreciate any advice and help!

First of all, I am a foreign student trying to apply for a JD program. I did my undergrad at UCLA majoring in English and will be finishing this early September.

I have a GPA that is barely above 3.0. I took the LSATs last year September and got 163.

GPA 3.0
LSAT 163

I'm planning to take it again this October, aiming for 170+..
I am also planning to apply Early Decision to UCLA..

So here are my questions:

1) I realize that my GPA is considerably low compared to my competitors who will be applying to UCLA as well. If I have a high LSAT score (around 170), do you think I will have a chance in being admitted to the school?

2) Do you guys know if Early Decision programs (specifically at UCLA) have rolling admissions? If it does, then I can relax and submit my transcripts and October LSAT by the deadline (Nov. 15), but if not.. I want to apply as soon as possible but my scores will not come out in time. That would be a problem.

Thanks a lot for your time. I appreciate any feedback!

I can’t really answer most of your questions, but I assume there’s a pre-law adviser at UCLA–go see him/her.

Check to see if UCLA law accepts the higher of two LSAT scores. Some LSs do, but many average the two scores.

Thanks for your help! I’ll be sure to do that at the upcoming Law School forum in LA.

I THINK we are failing to communicate. Most UNDERGRADUATE colleges have pre-law advisors. They give advice on applying to law school. They usually have “grids” which show where people from the same school applied and the range of gpa’s and LSAT scores that were accepted.

If you go to a law school forum, you will meet a representative from UCLA law school. That’s a good thing to do, but IMO, is less important than talking to your undergraduate pre-law adviser.
Oh, I had no idea about the advisor. Thanks for the correction…

Really appreciate your help! Going to check with the advisor soon!
