I am back. &nd ready to chance you!

so why bother asking people to transfer if you feel your situation is dramatically different than the situation you posted?

If I was a UC app reader, I wouldn’t give someone with a 2.7 the benefit of the doubt of taking 20 units in the spring.

are there some problems with my mouth about describing the situation? i already mentioned i would be likely to have at least 3.2 uc transferable gpa at the end of this fall. if it’s gonna be 2.7 at the end of this fall with 40 units, which i already know it’s rarely possible for any UCs, i would not even like to bother anyone because i fairly know all of my situation.

I don’t understand why you are arguing with me about stuff you have said. Why say you don’t have IGETC if you will finish it on time? Why say that you only have 40 units if you will have 60 next semester? Why say that you have a 2.7 if you know it will be higher when you apply? You are the one who is posting confusing stats, so don’t be surprised when someone else thinks you are a joke.

^well, i don’t mean to argue with and confuse anyone. And no offense. I’m not surprised that you think it’s a joke. that’s why I want to reply and see what’s wrong and try to make it clear. If now you totally understand what i’m trying to say, you still want to chance me, i will appreciate. if you couldn’t care less, it would also be fine. No offense, no pressure. thanks!

@tcccom
I’d say that you are around 50-50 at the mid-tier UCs and have a good chance at the lower tier ones, assuming that you do indeed get a 3.2 GPA and fulfill the other requirements.
You have absolutely no chance at UCB or UCLA.

I agree with Descartes. I think if you applied to UCI, UCD, and UCSB there is a 70-80% chance that one would accept you. I think there is a 70-80% chance that all 3 of the lower tier schools (UCR, UCM, UCSC) would accept you.

I would not waste money on applying to the other schools.

@DescartesQ
@Shannon13

Thank you both for chancing me! by the way, I’ve heard some students with great gpa upward trend will eventually be admitted to mid-tiers, with the final gpa of 3.2-3.5 in some impacted majors. How helpful is it to my uc application? because i think, raising my gpa 2.7 up to 3.2-3.4 seems to have a strong upward trend. any ideas?

Tcccom, with an upward trend I think a UC would like to see 2-3+ semesters of raising your GPA not one good semester, It also depends what classes you are taking that affect the upward trend are you taking G.E. classes that are probably inferior to the UC major transferable classes that you are/should be taking. As well as having a 2.7 GPA and hoping to get a 3.2 by the end of fall realize there are people with 3.2 GPA’s right now who have the same circumstances as yourself who have a upward trend GPA and are going to be compatible with some of the UCs hoping to raise that GPA to something higher. No matter how much you believe in yourself these UCs are looking out for themselves and school reputation trying to raise stats up for future applicants. Now looking at the UC’s they do tend to accept few applicants with low GPAs but that is very low, but usually not that many with a low gpa apply because they already know the outcome, which raises your probability of getting accepted to a good UC you apply too. So although people are saying No chance, you do have SOME chance which is better than None. So apply, write a good essay, and keep up the upward trend and you do have a chance some chance of getting accepted.

Also the other people replying do have credibility with there opinions we are all in the same boat as you, and seeing other people “chance me” threads with 3.5 upward trend who have all the requirements fulfilled do have a greater chance than yourself, and with most of the UC’s they have a minimum cut off of applying with a 2.8 GPA. Which is still lower than what you reported. But it all matters about the UC GPA and not your Overall GPA.

2.4* not 2.8

AWESOME. A current student chances :] Thank you in advance!

@Earlygrad - You already have your own thread. One where you copied this post from. And in that one you received an answer.

For my major, it is recommended that I complete 2 years of a foreign language but I haven’t done anything to complete that because I plan to take a placement test once I get to the university to avoid wasting time at CC. I plan to mention this in the additional comments. Not too sure how this would affect my admissions!

All other major pre-reqs will be completed by spring 2013 for UCI, UCLA, and UCB.

Thanks all~~~!

@MikeyRawks

Very helpful information. Thank you!

Chance me please! I’m growing gray hairs over this whole transfer process.

My top 2 choices are UCLA and UCB. I’m honestly concerned about those 2 schools because Economics is so difficult to get in…

Sorry everyone for replying super late! I was out of town without internet!!! :frowning:

**@Rickyseg: The statement, “people say that I have a 0% chance” is NOT true! Don’t listen to them; clearly they don’t know what they are talking about. My friend went to CC for a year (same situation) and transferred as a “sophomore” (technically a junior) to UCSD. Make sure your pre-reqs for your criminology major is completed as well as your IGETC by spring of 2013. Call up UC Irvine up tomorrow to ask them about the AP credit. I am almost certain that they will accept it! :relaxed: Did you TAG with UCI? You’re GPA sounds good for the school and major! Your extra curricular are amazing! Keep up the good work! If you have anymore additional questions feel free and ask away.

-KC<3**

**@Slapusillydawg: WOW! Your stats are stellar! Your chances are looking really good! Work hard on that personal statement. A little bit of advice: short, concise and straight to the point. Make sure there is no “fluff” added into your essays. Your main points should SHINE through your statement. SELL YOURSELF. Last cycle (FALL 2012), a couple of transfers got rejected to Berkeley with a 4.0 and some got accepted with a 3.8+ with a physics and applied math major! Honestly, don’t be surprised if you get rejected to one of the schools that you applied to! It is super unexpected. It really depends on how many apply this year from your major. They will compare you to them! But I can tell you that you WILL get accepted to either UCLA or Berkeley. CAL loves all rounded students. I honestly think you have a better chance at CAL. It is weird how it works out. I actually got rejected from UCLA, when other people got accepted with lower GPAs. However, I got accepted to CAL and they didn’t. I know that this cycle is the most competitive it has ever been! Keep your head high and strive for the best! Which school are you hoping for?
Let me know how everything goes, &nd please, if you have anymore questions let me know! :relaxed:

-KC<3**

**@XianForce: Hello! Your chances are looking good. What schools did you apply to? It really depends. Your extra-curricular are looking good! Especially that intern job for a web design firm and shadowing experience! Those really stood out! Also, CAL and UCLA love all rounded students; ESPECIALLY CAL! :relaxed: Let me know which schools you are applying to and we can go from there! &nd if you have any additional questions let me know! :relaxed:

-KC<3**

**@Emprex: Thank you so much! It all paid off! &nd soon you will feel the same way. Honestly, worst mistake ever…I started the day after Thanksgiving. I got super lucky and finished it in time. I got three strong readers to read and edit my essays (all friends). I was going to email it to a CAL advisor but did not have enough time. I highly recommend it though! Make sure your essays are STRONG and POWERFUL Like I said earlier: SELL YOURSELF. What makes you different than the rest? If you want me to edit yours and critic it let me know! :relaxed:

-KC<3**

**@Tccom: Hey! To even be somewhat considered you would need a 3.0 and up! Get your GPA to a 3.2+ by the end of Fall (as stated in your original comment). If your IGETC or pre-reqs are not done then you have a super slim chance unfortunately. Try to finish your IGETC & PR’s by the end of Spring and you should be good! What schools were you thinking about applying to? I know that this cycle is going to ridiculously difficult!

-KC<3**

**@EarlyGrad123: No problem anytime! Wow, I am so sorry! I hope that your circumstances are get better. So for “transferring” from CC → UC the admissions will not be looking at your ACT or high school scores/grades. Your college GPA looks good! Did you finish your IGETC & PR’s? Where are you applying to? Your extra curricular activities look amazing! Honestly, at this point tie everything you wrote in this thread and show the UC’s that you deserve a spot at their school. Tell them about your hardships and how you overcame them! BE YOU. :relaxed: If you have anymore questions feel free and let me know! :relaxed:

-KC<3**

**@ConradoPena: I am assuming your UC GPA is the unweighted GPA? Are you a freshman applicant or a transfer? If you are a transfer then your EC’s look great! Reminds me of mine! You have a great chance at all of the schools applying to (transfer admit?), but it really depends for UCLA what your major is. Is it a capped major?

-KC<3**

**@Silvertongues: Apply to the schools that you see yourself going to! I think your list is great! I would call up the schools and ask them about the foreign language requirement. I am sure you are allowed to complete it there. &nd yes! Mention it in the “additional comments” section! It’s looking good for you. Make sure your personal statement makes you shine (this is what it will come down to in many cases). Let me know if you have anymore questions!

-KC<3**

**@HockeyGiant: I love the CC name! Don’t stress!!! For you, your pre-reqs are going to weigh you down unfortunately! But this doesn’t mean you aren’t going to get in! I know that UCSD is a little bit more lenient on pre-reqs! You will get into UCLA or CAL guaranteed. But this is only if you do well on your personal statement! Because, many people will have the same GPA, great EC’s, completed coursework. It comes down to your story. Why should they choose you? You really need to SELL YOURSELF. I can’t stress this enough. What makes you different? Make your story unique! Your chances are good! Let me know if you have any more questions!

-KC<3**

Hi PsychBruin2012, please Chance me!

Major: Computer Science B.S.

Schools: UCI (really want to go), UCD (backup)

GPA: 3.1 -> I am planning to finish up my IGETC courses and possibly get some CS classes done after spring 2013, raising it to a potential 3.25.

At time of transfer,
Completed IGETC
Completed pre-reqs for transferring with CS

EC: listed a bunch of voluntary service, clubs, etc. I did from my HS years to now.

Work Experience: None

Personal Statement: Incomplete

I really want to apply with TAG to UCI, but it’s not possible with the current GPA. If I work hard and get A’s for the rest of my classes I am planning to take, I will receive around a 3.25.

What are my options if I get rejected? I don’t plan on applying to the more lenient UC’s and really hope to get into Irvine for their CS department. Thanks so much for doing this.

@PsychBruin2012

Thank you for also chancing me! I’m confident to have 3.3 or 3.4 ay the end of fall. 3.2 might be the worst case in general. What if I end up with 3.3x or 3.4x at the end of this fall? how likely for me to be admitted into UCD, UCSB and UCI and UCSD with economics as an impacted major? these 4 will be what I mainly focus on and die for applying to. And also, I will complete both igetc and basic major prereqs by the end of spring.

yeah right, it will be more tough since i have to take 20 units at spring. So i also wonder, when they look at my app, will having only 40 units by the end of fall decline the chance? thanks in advance!
