i am going to give to give my sat subject test in june. i am in 12th currently. is it a good choice.

i am taking my sat subject test maths level 1, maths level 2 and literature. is it a good choice as i wanted to get into duke university or maybe caltech or mit.
please help me on how i should prepare to get a good score of about (2000 and above)

please help me

“is it a good choice” versus WHAT? June is the next sitting. Take it as often as needed to get a great score. You only have a few more sittings left.

"please help me on how i should prepare to get a good score of about (2000 and above) " Ummmm… something you should have thought about before now. Go to the SAT/ACT Test prep forum for last minute helps. <a href=“Test Preparation - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-act-tests-test-preparation/

If you are in 12th grade, shouldn’t you already have been accepted somewhere? Or is that a typo?

The OP is a likely to be a rising senior- entering grade 12 this coming school year.

He is taking the SAT subject tests in math and literature at the end of 11th grade. Is this a good time? Yes, because it allows him to see his scores before he applies and then improve on them if needed.

Is this a good choice? Choose the subject tests one is most proficient at. If the OP is good in these subjects, then yes. (If English is a second language, the language of origin is not a good choice since colleges assume that the person taking that test will score higher than students who are learning it. The OP is not taking his original language test)

Math is a good choice for science and technology fields. For those and Cat Tech, taking one or more subject tests in physics, chem, bio are also a chance to show proficiency if the OP does well in those topics.

How to do well? Prepare- purchase the study guides for the tests you are taking, make sure you know the material, and practice.

Taking both maths is widely regarded as pointless

Don’t take both math 1 and math 2. Take Math 2 and Lit, as planned, and add a science of your choice. You can decide right on the day of the test, but I suggest picking the science you’re most comfortable with and studying it seriously.

There are multiple mistakes on this thread. First, do not take Math1 and Math2. The are counted as 1 subject. Second, I don’t see any reason to take SAT2 in 12th grade unless you are going to take a gap year. OP said he/she is 12th grade currently, not uprising. Third, no one add up the scores for SAT2.

so can i change my math level 1 test into some other test like physics or chemistry on the test day

do i have to pay a fees for it???

i wanted to ask that should i give the ap exam also. is it required for admission in colleges.
please inform me that should i give it or not and whether is it going to help me in getting into colleges

if you can help to give some instructions about IELTS test… i will appreciate it,

If your educational system doesn’t have AP classes, you’re not expected to take AP exams. You are however expected to take your country’s exams and do extremely well in them.
Yes you can change from math 1 to a science of your choice, and there is no extra fee for it. You just declare on the day of the test.
Not that in the US, the teacher gives the test, and the student TAKES the test.
Are you taking a gap year (ie., graduating in 2014, applying for Fall 2015) or is your year April to February (ie., 1éth grade started a month ago)?

i am living in india and currntly studying in 12th standard. my 12th will finish in april 2015 and then i am deciding to go to usa for my engineering

thank you very much myos1634 for helping me .
could please recommend me whether i should take physics or chemistry.
i am good in physics but a little weak in chemistry.

do you think that maths level 2, literature and physics would be a good choice for getting into a good university in usa. i read on some websites that if you give only act with writing test and not give sat or sat subject still it is alright to get a admission in the college

Some colleges indeed only require the ACT because it also tests social science and science automatically. However for the most competitive universities you’ll need both ACT and subject tests.
Math Level 2+ Literature + physics would be a good combination.

actually all the topics coming for physics sat subject test have not yet completed by my high school so i am unaware of of few topics

i am good in chemistry as well and i have studied all the topics coming in the sat subject chem so should i give the chem instead of physics… please guide me

there’s no difference, pick the one you think you’ll do best in. What will matter is your score - you should have a 700+ in whichever subjects you choose.
