you guys ever wonder how much money admissions bring in?

the amount of money they make?
some of the more popular schools get 40,000 apps. (a lot of uc's get about 40,000) at 40$ a pop they're making $1.6 million on apps alone. factor in the amount of paper they have to buy to print out rejection letters i figure the school (or state?) is getting 1,599,800....then they charge you 100$ to send in your s.i.r..5,000 students at 100$ a pop another 500,000-- you're looking at over $2 million ...thats 2,000,000....more money then most of us will ever see well-- if you cant beat them... join them....
anyone interested in applying.... fall 2006!!!!UC-Venice

CCisPrison, maybe you overlooked the fact that going to college not only implies applying, but getting an education. Instead, why don't you open a college, take peoples' money, and move to Norway. Cheers!

Actually with a college education and a high degree, over our lifetimes there is a very good chance that most of us here will earn over 2 million... However I've thought the same thing in the past about just how much the schools make from applications and so forth.

CCisPrison, when you consider the overhead of the admissions building, the marketing materials, the salaries of the staff, etc. they are not making that much money. At least in Virginia the SIR gets deducted from your first semester tuition.
