I Am Only Applying To Northwestern

^^^^^
just kidding, but Northwestern is my #1 choice and i ** WILL BE APPLYING ED **. I will also be applying to MMSS, so if you could chance me for that, that would be great. My prospective major is economics and, depending on if i get into MMSS, i may double major in industrial engineering.

Male
South East (Bangladesh) Asian descent
Ohio
4.0 UW
4.25 W
SAT : 2220 M780, CR 710, W710
SAT II : US History 800, Math iic 800
ACT : 33
Class Rank :1/425
School Type : not competitive, sends 1 student to top school each year

Our school has this stupid rule when you can only take like 5 AP courses even though they offer 10.

AP's:
AP Statistics (5)-----------------------------self study
AP Microeconomics (currently studying)-------self study
AP Macroeconomics (currently studying)-------self study
AP US History (currently taking)
AP Environmental Science (currently taking)
AP Biology (currently taking)
AP Calculus AB (no BC, take next year )-------i can guarantee a 5 lol
AP Chemistry (take next year )
AP English (take next year)

And i'll probably self study a couple more senior year.

Extra Curriculars:

-President of Key Club (4 years) : we actually did stuff, over 100 hrs of volunteering

-President of Young Democrats (3 years): we have been doing some heavy volunteering for Obama/Clinton ...50ish hrs volunteering

-Captain Academic Team: yea, didn't win state or anything lol

-Science Club - again actually did stuff, went to Smokey Mountains and did some testing

-NHS - didn't do much, maybe like 20 hrs volunteering

-Mock Trial - defense attorney; unfortunately didn't win any awards

volunteered for stepping stones summer before sophmore year : help disable kids ....100some hrs.

Summer job for 2 years... worked like 30 hrs a week at Taco Bell

-Country Science Fair- won awards sophmore +Junior year

-National Merit Finalist

** Most Important Extra Curricular : Internship with Grameen Bank (2006 nobel prize winners) in bangladesh. Went to various villages and learned the process of microloaning and such.**

Essays/Recs- should be above average, and i am trying to get Mohammad Yunus (2006 nobel peace prize winner) to write me a rec but don't count on it.

Long post, but thanks in advance for reading.

I Am Only Applying To Northwestern

^^^^^
just kidding

I was genuinely shocked by this deception. No one else has done it before. Kudos to you.

if you apply ED, I'd say you may venture as close as reasonably allowable towards assuming you will be accepted

what ???

If you apply ED to Northwestern University and are accepted, then your thread title might prove to be true. Next year will be more difficult for college applicants than this year, so it is best not to assume anything. Is your SAT I score posted correctly?

^^^^^^

oops, yea its supposed to be 2200, I must have held the 2 button too long.

I would have to agree with elsijfdl - if you apply ED, I think you'll get in.

Anyone else??

Also, what else could i do to beef up my application. I'm gonna try to get some research with a professor but i think it would be kinda hard in the field of economics.

Internship with Grameen Bank? Yunus? omigosh, that's a hook. Apply early decision, write great essays, and advise your teachers on how to write a memorable rec.

you SHOULD definitely get in... but make sure you show genuine interest (which you should by applying early). agree with above.

I'd say you have a great chance to get in.

My daughter only applied to one school - Wash U. in St. Louis, and she got in. She applied ED, and had she been deferred or rejected, would have submitted more applications via common application for RD. The essays were all done, scores submitted to her favorites, she just didn't bother applying to her second choices.

Really, I knew it was good but i never thought of it as a hook.

I think you are a solid canidate to get into NU.

I would say you have a 70%-90% in getting in.

And if you get that rec from Yunus, youre a shoe in.

i'm saying, you should never believe an offer of admission is a sure thing because you never know, but in your case i would say, if you applied ED it would be about as close to a sure thing as I have seen around here recently
