because I heard it was a great transcript boost. Has anyone done this?

Is it worth the time?
Is it look upon favorably by college admission offices?

Thanks

Uhhhh... how about pursue something that will really be meaningful to you and the community around you? I'm not saying the program in and of itself is without merit -- but your "resume padding" tone is disheartening.

Do what is best for you: not so it will make you "appear" a certain way. Please.

This is such a problem. Everyone is trying so hard to make themselves be something they are not just to get accepted into a college. What is everyone thinking?? Has everyone lost all sense of self respect and self worth. Be proud of who you are and what you like doing, list those things and not what you think colleges want to see - so disgusting!

Lately I've been imagining a lot of CC kids (and parents) wearing little rubber bracelets (some crimson, some orange, some blue) that say

"WWAT" for "What Would Adcoms Think?"

Not a good compass.

Obviously it's favorable but people who do it for adcoms aren't going to get it.

Okay, let me rephrase (I just quickly typed the question --- didn't think it would be interperted so harshly!)

I was thinking about channeling what I ALREADY DO into something official and streamlined, like the Congressional Award. I already volunteer (the opportunity to work with kids has come my way as an offshoot of my musical pursuits), plus I volunteer at a food bank (I started doing this with my neighbors and have continued on my own), I feel I can fullfil the physical challenge part quite easily (I dance ballet 6x a week and have been contemplating doing a marathon with my father), and have already had my sights on travel which would complete the expedition aspect of the award.

My question was more along the line of "Is it worth it to fill out the paperwork, find a sponsor, track my hours, etc., --- is this an award that ANYONE ELSE has had success with?"

Can anyone answer the question in this spirit? I was not JUST trying to pad my transcript, just wondering if having my activities recognized under this award was worth while.
