I CANNOT believe I did this.

Let me start out by saying SFJGSJFKHGSDG!
So we just finished all of our semester midterms this week, and so far I've done pretty good (all a's, 1 b, and one i don't know yet). Except...
For my one math class we had to do a project for our exam. I did it. And he gave us the whole class to work on it and turn it in. So meanwhile I put it (it's on construction paper) inside a textbook so try and get out some wrinkles for the rest of class.

I come home to find it in my backpack and not turned in!!
I must've mindlessly put it back into my backpack while talking to someone and completely forgot to turn it in.
Next day, I went afterschool to explain the situation and turn it in (he's a pretty lenient teacher). He wasn't there, I think he was in a meeting.
Now about 10 minutes ago I was thinking about all of my scores on my exams. And it dawns on me. I never turned in my project. I completely forgot about it today, once again. Tomorrow is the day when teachers officially put all the grades in for report card.
So there's really nothing I can do. It's worth 20% of my semester grade, and I got B's for the other two 40%s. So that would be a 68% semester average.
=[
How important is the average semester grade, as opposed to quarter grades?

Sorry this is so long. I am so mad at myself right now. I probably sound like a complete idiot saying this. But I figure I'd vent to you guys and hear what you'd have to say. Hahahh please be nice

It's not too late! E-mail the project to him if he gave the class his address (my impression is that most teachers do) and/or leave a message on his voicemail. That'll at least show some thoughtfulness on your part. Maybe then put it on his desk first thing tomorrow w/ a note?

We have off tomorrow, it's one of the days for the teachers. And most of my teachers that I know of already put final grades into the system or whatever today. So he probably did too.
Also, the project was like a poster. So I can't really e-mail that to him.
=/
-hits self over and over and over and overrr-
Thanks for the suggestion though.

find out where he lives and go to his house

Uhh... colleges don't see your quarter grades, only semester.

The only thing you can do is try to email him, call him, or go to school tomorrow and hope that he hasn't put in grades yet.

This sucks so bad sedkgjsngkdh
Again, I can't believe myself.
By the way I'm a freshman. Does this make any difference?

I guess all I can do now is get A's in every single class I ever have until I graduate. Sounds good to me.

Some colleges don't look at freshman grades.

Hm. Let's hope so.

Teachers can usually request to have their students' grades changed even after report cards have been sent out. Like the day before last I heard a student asking my AP Lang teacher if he had fixed her grade even though semester report cards came out two weeks ago. Last quarter I had to go back to one of my teachers who had given me a 50% instead of 98% in Weight Training by mistake- my third time in my high school career receiving a misprint. Two years back I even had to take exams after semester reports came out due to surgery, I was just given updated semester reports as soon as I finished my exams.
So I wouldn't worry too much about it. Unusual circumstances like yours come up way more than you'd think. I can't imagine your report card being set in stone.

Don't give up until you've contacted him. You've got a reasonable story - it should be no problem for him to give you an "extension" until you're back in school and can turn it in.

My school has teachers submit grades by Monday, then they receive a print out of all the grades they entered and they can make changes until Wednesday. Then, even after that, they can make changes.

Well, you are certainly conscientious enough! Relax, I called Johns Hopkins U. 2 years ago and they said they "look' at your 9th grade report card, but they don't add those grades in when they make up your 'score'. They actually look at 10th and 11th and part of 12th and look to see if you took the hardest classes offered at your school.

From this unfortunate experience, you hopefully learned to watch yourself, and you now recognize that the details can get away from you if you don't write notes to yourself. So figure out a system now where you can put post-its with things to do on them and reminders to yourself so that you keep up with the clerical details in your classes and in your life, because it is only going to get harder to keep up, and coming up with a system now will make you so organized you won't recognize yourself! Ask your parents for suggestions on keeping track of the details.

We all make mistakes, frankly, I would call the school and leave a message for the teacher. He might give you extra credit for the next marking period . I do like the idea of finding out where he lives and driving over there. Go for it if you can find him!

I think the biggest problem here is that you're worrying about what colleges will think already when you're a freshman. Damn... I think I might be in the minority on these forums when I say this, but you aren't going to get very far if all you think about is college (Especially 4 years before you even go there).

That said, you need to go talk to your teacher and explain what happened. Email him if you can. The earlier you can tell him, the better. He probably can get it changed if he buys your story. Personally, I'm not sure how you could forget something like this twice (Or three times), but mistakes do happen. Just go talk to him and see what happens.

Sort of happened to me. I was fasting, and I forgot to turn in two pages of my math final last year. I put it in my backpack with my extra blank papers...

I didn't even bother explaining it to her. She's not lenient - she would've gotten upset, wondering if I cheated. :( That was my first B.

I do this sort of thing all of the time. Just today, I left the psych textbook my friend gave me in the math room. Hopefully it will be there tomorow.

at my school, colleges only see your final grades, not semester
if it's a half-year course, then your semester grade IS your final, but i'm sure this situation will work out

can you take a very good photograph of the poster and email it? Explain your forgetfulness (not unusual during midterms, judging from my household). I can't see how it would hurt. But it needs to be a good photo. Tack on the wall, shine a light on it, use a tripod, or the like. Or take a photo outdoors in good light.

Guess what?!
My teacher just called and told me I could bring it by today before 2!!!
YAYY!!!
Although my project isn't the greatest, and now it's ripped and crinkled, ANY grade is better than a 0.
