Okay, so my parents were planning on sending me to school full pay, so I didn't apply for FA since I didn't need it. But a couple of days ago my dad found out one of his former business partners stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from their business. He's going to have to file bankrupcy and everything. My parents also have to put seven children through college eventually. Long story short: no boarding school for me.

Can I still apply for FA anywhere? Are there any scholarships or loan programs specifically for high school students? I've already looked at A Better Chance, but I'm not a minority so I don't qualify. I still can't believe I might not go anywhere this fall.

bama which school are you appling for FA? i think you should really call the schools and just really explain to them what happened and yes you still can apply for FA. most schools should be very understanding of your circumstances. your parents should honestly explain to them what happen

If you got accepted to any of the BS, you could still qualify for FA based on you curretny family income status. The issue is you need to ask your parent to do the PFS application form immediately and discuss with the schools you have you application in or got accepted. Based on you family financial status, they will calculated the parent contribution, hoping you SSAT scores are good for acceptance or if you have been accepted already.

FA is based on you current 2010 parent financial situation. Immediat action is necessary by yoru parents. Exeter and some othre schools offer full FA in certain situations. Getting accepted is the key first. I hope this helps.

maybe your dad can go to court and get the money back(i mean his business partner did STEAL the money) but thats besides the point. you definitely should contact the school, they might actually give you financial aid because your situation has turned around so badly. i hope you get to go to BS in the end!
