I can't keep a job.

:) :) :) :) :)

Way to go TA - best wishes to you!! :)

Best of luck to you. One other resource you might keep in mind is your local social services department (usually run by the county, but sometimes by a city.) Many of them have programs for adults with developmental disabilities, and Asperger's qualifies. At least in our area, they have very experienced social workers who work with clients on finding jobs that are a good fit for the person's needs and constraints. They're also very aware of which employers are particularly friendly to people with disabilities -- and sometimes these companies have excellent pathways that have already been plowed by people with similar disability issues.

Wonderful!

Your goal is no different than anyone of us, to find a job that makes us happy to get up in the morning and head off to. Sometimes it is just a little more difficult to find that perfect job and it gets frustrating. Think positively, you possess a unique skill, the ability and the desire to thrive at a job that many people would not be able to tolerate for long periods, jobs that require rote, monotonous behavior. There are plenty of those jobs out there on factory assembly lines and other locations and you just have to stop feeling sorry for yourself and use what is obviously a very good brain and think outside the box! I would not, however, shut yourself off from human contact because you should always continue to work on your social skills, push yourself and work with a therapist if, and when, you can afford it. In the meantime, find a job that earns your way and don't insult anyone along the way. You are not stupid, you merely process things a little differently and your comfort zone is a little different from the person next to you, that is all. You set your own goals and take pride in your achievements as you reach and surpass those goals.

Good luck!

My husband went to school with an undiagnosed Aspie who was the only person we know of who was fired by Toys R Us before Christmas. Later, he was fired from a computer job with the state (hard to do!)

Keep in mind that if you go to school in the summer, you can cut out one semester of school and save some money.
