I know that sounds strange to you seniors, but I can't wait for the excitement of waiting for college letters to come back, hopefully carrying news of joy!

I saw this and thought “Shut up. You’re an underclassman idiot.”

I’m sorry, but you won’t know the pain and suffering of applying to schools until it gets there are you’re actually waiting on the letters.

I applied to only one school which was a safety (state school) and I tossed and turned over getting in there.

Applying to college =/= waiting for decisions.

The wait is unbearable…

I’ve been waiting for a long time to go to college and I really want to know my home for the next four years. The thought seems too unreal for me… just 2 years ago I had no motivation to go to college, but now, it’s the most exciting thought ever.

APPLYING to college is indeed a whole other story. ><

Yeah, you’ve got things mixed up but I agree with you…Applying to college was actually pretty fun for me. I applied to 16 colleges and I liked writing the essays; they’re a fun way of expressing the thoughts you have about yourself.

OH DEAR GOD THE WAIT. I can’t take it! I’ve already heard back from 2 out of 7 and I’m still insanely impatient. It doesn’t help that they both came within a week of each other, so I kind of got “used” to getting letters, but those were it. Applying is horrible (start over the summer!) but the whole process has overall been really fun for me.

I hate the wait, I only have been accepted to my safety so far. No other decisions yet, and I’ll probably only get one more before late March / early April.

I can’t wait to apply either. So excited!!
Only a few more months :D

@ AUGirl: at my school, underclassmen = freshmen and sophomores. Pretty positive OP is a junior

To talk about something new, I can’t stand the wait. I got into 4 out of my 7, still waiting on Clemson (don’t care), University of Wisconsin (second choice), and University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill (first choice, doubt i’ll get in).
Applying to college isn’t very stressful, IMO. I spaced everything out and did fine. The waiting, the choosing, and the issue of money suck.

I was so excited also… Started my common app at midnight (EST) the night it came out. Did the same with the UC app. Trust me… not fun. I still have 2 private applications to go and I just want to curl up in a ball and forget about it. So much school work… so much to do. Don’t look forward to this, please.

OP is an idiot and is in for a huge reality check next year.

OP,
I know exactly what you mean. I am so excited to write the perfect essay and fill out the common app knowing that it will be going into the hands of some of the best colleges in the country. I especially can’t wait to for the letters to come back, anticipating the decisions for months. Then again, I’m only a sophomore and probably have a terribly rude awakening ahead of me. Oh well, we can be excited for now.

I’m a HS Junior this year. Yesterday I signed up for the ACT for the first time and I just though, “HOLY CRUD! I’m going to college! Oh wait… I haven’t even applied for college…”.

It sounds really corny but it is pretty exciting and painstaking, at the same time! Now I just can’t wait for the huge disappointment of college everyone says it is. lol

No… College is just going to be that strange time between being a kid and becoming an adult. It almost reminds me of awkwardness that middle school was!

I got accepted to my dream so (applied ED) so I’m happy that I don’t have to wait till end of March/beg of April to hear back from colleges :); it feels nice.
