I-Day cautions

Wait, so what was the measurement form for then?

Yeah, I figured they’d have the right size uniforms for everyone since we had to get measurements taken. Wellllp, in that case, I’ll probably show up close to the beginning time…probably not too too early though, becase I don’t want THAT much extra attention.

extra attention is for the first and last person, he’s right when he says get there early…

as cool as it would be, the AF does not tailor our ABU shirts, or PT shorts… Small, Medium, Large…etc.

are the footprints done yet?

sorry iceman, the uniforms you get during basic are the ones you’ll have FOREVER.
not really, but for the majority of your cadet career unless you want to “pay” for new ones. If I remember correctly, those measurements are for your blues pants and parade dress, which you get issued later in the game anyways. But I’m talking about your workout clothes, abus, and bathrobe. If you are taller than 5’5-ish, I wouldn’t worry. I am 5’1 so I looked more than ridiculous in my size larges.

I was on the last bus by the way :-D

Do you take the PFT and AFT in the first 2 weeks out at the Academy?

I know you take them both at the end of BCT…

yes, you take both within the first few days

From what it looked like on the “schedule” for last year’s Beast, they did the PFT right before Jack’s and then the AFT and PFT on consecutive days towards the end of BCT.

Speaking of the “schedule”, does anyone know if they’re going to post one for this year before we head out? Will it be the same basic things?

Schedule: 04:30a.m. wake up call
04:30a.m.-22:00 Training

Schedule above = every day for 6 weeks.

The above is correct for all days except for maybe Sunday, where you either get up later and don’t do PT, or just don’t do PT. But other than that, you don’t get a schedule because it’s the element of surprise- even if you knew when the AFT and PFT were, you still have a ton of impromptu things and breifings that are dependent upon squadron and flight.
Plus, don’t worry about it- your cadre will get you to where you need to be.

Eh, I figured as much. I just didn’t know if they actually gave us a schedule or what, since the date from last year’s says it was released June 20th.

I hear one of the most annoying things is never knowing the time.

Watch the shadows. Pretty soon you will start to figure out the approximate time.

i don’t even have a scheudle yet past wednesday. but honestly, even if you saw it it’s really nothing to gander at. pt, meals, brieings, lessons, that’s pretty much it. you’ll see soon enough

and i now know the names of the 33 ppl who won the lottery and get me as their flight comm! wha-ha-ha! ;)

Just curious, but are there any names that you might recognize? I’m not trying to pick your brain for names or who might be under your fearless leadership, Just wondering if there’s anything that rings any sort of bell.

just kidding, i do have a schedule :)

honestly, other than the kid i went to high school with who’s coming, a friend’s friend, a friend’s brother, and the “infamous” future mars kid, i wouldn’t recognize anyone’s name. i purposely didn’t pay attention to names at the CC dinners to make sure i didn’t remember someone as being a CCer or not, b/c i don’t want even accidental bias good or bad.

Haha the Mars kid… Ouch.

I am sure he will have a great time with you as his fearless leader eagle…

Mars kid?

(This is me filling space, because it won’t let me post less than 10 words. Good grief, CC)

Mars kid is the kid who had an article about him in the Brownsville Herald about him going to the academy. Made it sound that he was completely prepared because of CAP and BSA. He stated, “I don’t like to brag… but i’m going to be the first man on Mars.”

Here’s the full article with plenty of comments. some of them are disappointing and reflect poorly on USAFA, some are pretty funny, and some are good points:

And i didn’t say i was his leader, i just said he’s one of the few faces i’ll recognize on i-day
