That's the truth. I don't like it at all and yet I have to study for it. I haven't really studied for anything at all in my life...how can I force myself to get the blue book and do some practice tests? Does anyone else feel this way about the SAT or am I just an anomaly?

Try the ACT.

In order to do well on the SAT, you MUST study for it. There is no way around it.
This is especially candid for the W section.

No I hated taking the SAT's, though luckily in our school it's a rarity to actually do any preparation for it on the basis that you should do well on your own terms, but yeah the only reason I was even motivated to take it was the opportunity to do math problems [I know weird] but yeah, you don't have to study if you don't want to, many people in my grade still did very well without any preparation at all, so good luck with that :D

you know, they dont offer the ACT with writing anywhere outside the continental US. i mean seriously that is so unfair.

all the more reason for my revolution.

I hated the SAT too...definitely try the ACT. Way better.

you know, if you haven't studied before, you can't complain much. you're going to have to one day or another.

having said that, we all hate SATs, but it's a matter of what you do with that anger. are you going to sit there and spend all your time on killing your brain cells in stubborness or are you going to just bite the bullet and get over with it so you won't have to continue hating it forever?

It is very unfair that the writing test isn't offered outside the US. The ACT is way better for me. The verbal sections were easier and math better suited to what I've been learning in HS. >_<

well you can't do anything about it, can you? unless you want to go to the US and take it there.

I love the SAT cause I pwned it and it helps me in admissions. Suck it up and study, that's the best advice, cause if you don't, you might regret having a score that could have been higher come admissions time.

I lovED the SAT when I first took it. Ofcourse, after the sixth time I took it (June) I started to get pi$$ed off.

I think i just might take the ACT instead and try to do better. I'm a lot better at math and science than at english, so would I do better on the ACT?

The only thing you can do is to establish your own testing service comperable to the SAT but $20 cheaper and much easier. Then execute a slick marketing campaign to build customer recognition. It also helps if you cut deals with colleges that encourage them to exclusively endorse your exam. Once you have an SAT sized consumer list of say, 2 million, then take your own test which you created. That way, you know all the answers and if you get any wrong, since you own the company, you can just "fix" the computers. Thats the only solution I see here. That or the ACT :)

ACT should be demolished. The test itself is so retarded how you can just randomly guess and have no penalties. You can get a decent score with your eyes closed. No wonder top schools don't use them.

^That maybe one of the most rediculous posts I've ever read. Obviously you haven't taken the ACT, or if you have, you really don't understand it. Why would you care if you get deducted points for guessing, that seems like an awful silly thing to care about. The ACT, fundamentally, is a much better test than the SAT. It tests achievement and qualifies academic performance. Furthermore, there is a much higher correlation between sucess on the ACT and sucess in school, which is the entire point of standardized tests. In fact, the ACT is becoming the prefered test at most top schools because the college board can't get their "stuff" together. I can't believe you wrote that. It makes me laugh.

Yeah top colleges accept ACT. I guess they're retarded.

...

^lol to the above post

this kid in my school never did his homework. The day before he had to take the ACT he played paintball all night long. The next day he came back with a 33. He told me he guessed almost all of it. Rofl my woffle copter

And I guess you believed him. I also have friends who say they never studied, when I call their house, their Parents say they can't come to the phone because they're studying.

Maybe he is just angry because he scored so poorly on it.

^good point, I never thought of that. Still, you don't guess on everyone and get a 33. The odds of that are so insignificant...
