All the EC’s you listed are fine and “count”, but not for the level of selection that is UIUC.
UIUC CS, even in CLA, won’t work for a 3.47GPA/25 ACT.
Your EC’s don’t matter at that level, you can’t get into UIUC CS with these stats…
There are lots of good colleges in the US, focus on finding the ones that are right for you.
My stats are not that impressive. I need to up my ACT score for now. I am working hard for it. Currently, have a 22 and want at least a 26-28. My GPA is also a 3.5 so I feel like I need to get a good ACT score to get into CS.
If you live in NJ, aim for Rowan (perhaps honors) and NJIT. Also, look at Drew, LaSalle, Temple.
@derozan Try the SAT in addition to see if you do better. Some kids do.
^I agree. Try the SAT too. You never know.
But it’s highly unlikely a 22 will go to 26-28. Most students manage, after a lot of work, to +1 (that means +1 in every section of the test). Getting a 25 would already be impressive.
You should have a college list with safeties and matches for a 22 ACT, and then add a couple in case you reach 25 or do better on the SAT.
D1 had joined only 2 clubs in high school and had no sport, but she had orchestra for all 4 years. She also had around 200hrs volunteering and community services. She was accept b to UIUC from OOS a few years ago for ChemE. Sport is not essential as long as you can demonstrate how you use your spare time I n a productive way.
EC’s do not have to be school based. Rec teams are EC’s. EC’s are merely activities you do in your spare team whether at school or not. It can be anything.
