i did poorly my sophomore year of high school do i still have a chance at some of my colleges?

I am in 10th grade and i dont feel like i did so well this year and my second semester grades are not final.
Here are my grades (1stsemester)/(2ndsemester)

Any feedback?
My colleges that i want to go to are:
USC
UCLA
UCSC
UCB
LMU (my sister goes there)
UCSB
UCD
please help and give me advice

UC’s only use 10-11th grades for their GPA calculation but will look at all grades 9-11th to make sure you passed the a-g course requirements. UC’s tend to be very GPA focused and for the majority of the UC’s, a 4.0+ capped weighted UC GPA is needed to be competitive.

I would say all the UC’s you have listed would be Reach schools just based on your current grades but if you are able to do well Junior year, then some of the UC’s such as Merced, Riverside and Santa Cruz could be possible.

Here is the UC GPA calculator link and until you complete 11th grade, it really cannot give you a realistic GPA for comparison sake.

The private schools like LMU and USC use 9-11th grades along with 1st semester Senior year grades to determine admission, so how did you do Freshman year?

My advice is figure out what went wrong with Sophomore year and move forward to do the best you can Junior year. Also come up with a Realistic college list that includes schools were you know you can get accepted. If you are a CA resident, there are plenty of Cal states to consider and even community college with transfer to a UC or private university.

Educate yourself on what it takes to get into these competitive schools such as HS course, good grades, high test scores, interesting EC’s and compelling essays.

There are plenty of knowledgeable posters on CC that can help you determine good safety and match schools when the time comes to apply. In the meantime, all is not lost so redouble your efforts and best of luck.

It is too early to rule anything out but. broadening/shifting your target list at this point is probably a good idea.

I’d suggest you not take AP Spanish, especially if you also struggled in SP2. Focus on getting those Ds out of your GPA. For most colleges 3 years of foreign language is plenty so, why risk the grade?

a quick google search will get you the freshman class profile for just about any CA college - which can help you narrow things down.

If you wind up with a 3.4ish CSUGPA and 1200ish SAT, all the UCs are going to be a reach but, most of the CSUs would be happy to have you. Sonoma, Chico, most majors at SJSU and CP Pomona are a worth a look,

do your best and see where you are next year.
