I was really shy and didn't want to go by myself to a room full of strangers. So, I only joined one in Sophomore year that I actually stick to in senior year,Asian Interests Club. I joined Model U.N. but I left after a soph. year. Then in junior year I joined Multicultural Club, Math Club, SADD and my school's Literature Magazine. Is that going to look bad on my common app?

Ohyeah…the new clubs, I’m also still in right now as a senior.

EC’s give colleges an idea of who you are, after your grades. They want kids who can not only master the academics, but also become engaged members of the campus community. Find things you did in your clubs that show responsibility and leadership. Find them! It’s ok to be shy- but you need to show how you pushed to overcome this- that once you’re comfortable, you really thrive and play a significant role. Also look at outside activities with the same- eg, church, mentoring a kid, music, etc.

don’t worry about what colleges want
join clubs you have interest in, do not join clubs for colleges- I HATE THOSE BASTERDS

and don’t try for leadership positions if you don’t WANT to. if you’re truly interested in just being a part of the club, your dedication will show

Nerv, your comments deflate your power, not enhance it.
