I didn't really do good on the SAT at all..?

Hello, I posted a previous thread about how I didn’t do well on the SAT. I took it in January and long story short I got a 1410 all together (writing, reading and math). For preparation, I bought the SAT Official Study Guide a.k.a. the blue book. To be quite honest, it didn’t really help. The practice tests were a mirror reflection of the real SAT but that’s about it. The blue book offered no HELPFUL strategies for me. It was real basic tips and it just didn’t help. I recently went to my local library and got Gruber’s Complete SAT Study guide… My question is am I wasting my time? Will it help me at all? I got in the high 400’s in all my sections- I know I did bad- should I get another book? I really want to do well like at least 1800+ because I know I can do better, I just need the right tools.
PLEASE
If anyone has any advice, success stories, etc. PLEASE POST A THREAD
All advice/help is appreciated!
Thanks

I don’t have any advice on how to study for the SAT. I just want to say that my son didn’t do well on the SAT either. We signed him up for the online course, bought the book that went with it and hired a tutor. He scored in the mid 500s for reading and writing, and only in the 400 hundreds for math. The SAT just didn’t work for him. He took the ACT and scored 29 for English, 30 for Reading, and … well, as expected in math (bad). I think every student should take both tests and see what works best for you. My son did better figuring out how to beat the clock than working out what the SAT was really asking. The SAT tests how you think, the ACT tests what you know. Maybe the ACT would work better for you. He has been accepted into every school he has applied to by only submitting the ACT because colleges really do not care which test you submit. Best of luck.
