Hi! I'm an incoming freshman into CMC (I'm female)and I'm not comfortable with drinking. I'm fine with my friends doing it but I personally do not participate in any kind of drinking activity. How will this affect my social life at Claremont McKenna and will I be able to maintain my non-drinker stance in the CMC environment?

Thanks

Congratulations!

My D is a nondrinker as well and is loving CMC. She had your concerns. Her only problem with her social life is finding enough time to do everything she wants to do!

I addressed this question a few days ago at the end of the thread asking questions of students. (They are really busy right now so they haven’t been answering.)

Hope that helps.

Hi Sanjrao,

I’m a rising senior at CMC and did not drink in high school. I came into my freshman year very apprehensive about the drinking scene, but it ended up being fine. Personally, I chose to drink, but know many people who don’t. There’s never any pressure to drink, but alcohol is consumed at many parties. I would say it’s not as fun to be at TNC sober, but fill a red cup with water and no one will know the difference. See you next year!

we’re past the may 1 date, so i’m too little too late–but was wondering, did you consider Brigham Young University? Good basketball to boot.
