I am becoming a senior and planning to take AP classes this year
AP Cal
AP Bio
AP Psychology

Do colleges care that I don't have any AP classes at Junior year?
Does it even matter if I take the APs or not this senior year?
I am worrying because I wouldnt finish the courses before I apply to colleges,
so it would be totally meaningless to take the APs.

Most don’t.

It looks better than nothing if you take more APs your senior year. It would make you look a lot better for a lot of colleges, but I don’t think it would for top ones.

It depends on: 1) the schools you’re applying to and 2) the number of AP courses your HS offers.

Because HSs vary so greatly in how many AP courses they offer, you will be assessed in the context of your own school, not an absolute number. So, if your HS only offers 3 APs, then your GC will say that you are taking the most rigorous coursework possible. As far as taking them in Sr yr, rather than as a Jr, except for early admissions, adcoms will see your sr schedule and your mid-yr grades, so it will help. If you had been able to take these classes as a jr, that would have helped more since colleges would have seen your final final grades.

so you are saying that the adcoms wont see my senior schedule if I apply early?

Admissions looks at your transcript through completion of your Junior year when reviewing your application for admittance. They will want to see your midyear senior transcript to see if you have maintained your GPA and rigor. Once you are accepted, they will review your final transcript which will also include your end of the year Senior grades.

While it is good to take AP’s during your senior year, your academic records through the end of your junior year are what they will use when reviewing your application. Keep the AP classes because if you can pull a good AP test score, you may be able to use them towards your general ed. requirements.
