I don't know how to write a decent essay.

We've been doing quick writes in class and so many people are getting 8's (well, granted, many are getting 5's and below). I've been getting 6's. And I don't know how to improve. I've asked the teacher, and she says to develop my ideas more, but how? How do I do this? I know this sounds really ridiculous, but I don't know how much further I have to develop. What ideas do I incorporate? How can I get that 8?

I’m getting 5’s, not really worried as my teachers say that I can easily reach an 8.

I think it all comes down to clarity with the ideas you’re expressing. I’ve read some boring as **** essays who barely scratch the surface of the ideas they can develop however they still get good grades since they explain the relationships between the words, themes, tones and such.

Regardless of what I just said, knowing how to define relationships in literature is pretty crucial. I think the idea’s are more thought of as the extra 1 or 2 points.

With that said, ideas can be anything, I’m a pretty . . . out of the box? person and I have no problem writing about BS and to some extent successfully connecting the idea (which I do! However not with clarity)

But yeah.

CLARITY. (I would say, but someone is gonna smoke me in a second with a better post :3 )

Don’t worry. You can definitely get a 5 on the exam with 6’s… though it depends on your multiple choice skills. In my class only about 3 8’s were given the entire year, but that probably means my teacher is a hard marker xP.

Anyway, it seems she wants you to put more detail into the ideas you express, or go beyond superficial arguments and look for deeper meanings.
