I don't know if I should get an IT degree or a Computer Science degree..

Alright it’s my first year of college and I honestly don’t know what to do as a major, computer science or it. Right now on my off time I try do a little programming at the same time I am not that good at math. I’ll be taking my math exam soon as the highest I got in high school was geometry. I’m worried about the job outlook and the salary later. I know I shouldn’t be stressed out its just I don’t know what to do. My parents are telling me to do computer science because it has a higher pay grade and it will probably take me a long time to complete which I’ll try or I can go the easy route and do IT. Guys help me I do love technology and I’d love to do something in the tech/computer field.

CS is more technical and involves design and development of computers and software.

IT is more business based and involved managing computers and software.

What do you want to do?

I mean I kinda wanna do IT and probably some programming like not just JAVA like C++

Computer Science is mostly applied math. Are you sure you’re not good at math, or was it a combination of needing to put in a little more effort and not being taught the math well enough (or not having the motivation/time to learn it yourself)?

Have you looked at the IT options at your school? In most IT programs there are some programming classes. Just won’t be as math-focused as the CS degree will be. Might not see C++ in those classes, but you need to check. I took a (graduate) systems programming class years ago and it used C (not object oriented at that time).

And you can get programming jobs with an IT degree (been there, done that). They will be business focused, like writing an app or reports, etc., and will tend to be working in business IT groups (not a Google or Apple, etc). But good paying jobs nonetheless.
