I like in Kentucky and I want to be a teacher. But the fact that wherever I go to college I’ll probably live is stressfull and I don’t even know where I want to go I want to stay close to home but far enough to know What being an adult is like
I’m not understand why going to college is stressful? What are those circumstances? If you are not ready, just go to CC for two years and transfer. Some people feel they need another year or two before they feel ready to be more independent. Don’t worry it will happen eventually.
What are your stats (GPA, SAT/ACT score)?
What’s your parents’ budget?
Do you want to be an elementary teacher or secondary school teacher?
Do you like cities, mountains, the beach, the countryside?
OK, deep breaths. I’m going to guess that you’re a Junior? And that possibly today you got your SAT results from May? And that all of a sudden you feel like you need to know NOW exactly what path the next 40 years of your life will take??
Answer the questions asked in post #2. (And “I don’t know yet” IS a totally OK answer.)
Use the College Match feature on this site to get a list of schools that seem to fit what you think you’re looking for. And go to their websites. See how much they cost, what they pride themselves on. Look at the Education links there, and see where their kids student teach, and during which years-- the sooner you can find yourself in an elementary/secondary classroom for observations, the better. email someone at the school to see where their graduates have gotten jobs, and how many of them have had success that first year out.
Look at some large, some small, some urban , some rural and so on.
Start making plans to visit some that sound appealing. In doing so, you’ll realize that you DO have some preferences that you didn’t know about-- great! That will help narrow down your list.
But, above all, breath. Change is always scary, and you’re anticipating a big change. But know that you’re capable of handling it, just as thousands and thousands of other kids your age will handle it.
