i don't want to go pre-med

but i think i want to major in life sciences. i like genetics so i was debating about doing mimg though i'm a little scared about its difficulty. i also love history so i'm considering biological anthropology as well as perhaps psychobiology. i know kinda random but those are the majors i'm considering. any suggestions/advice? it's highly appreciated!

Who said you had to be a pre-med to major in the life sciences?

All lifesci majors are pretty similar in the first two years or so, though - you take the same intro classes for each major so it's not as if you have to decide now.

well its more like whenever people ask these questions its usually in reference to going to medical school one day...i dont really know what i want to do...

1st 2 years of life science is the same for everyone. Most people use the Life Science series to gauge which major they want to do.

do neuroscience. you won't regret it. trust me

here's a good first step:
look at the course catalog and find the premajor requirements (or lower-div classes) for all your possible majors.
some of them will be really similar, so then you can relax and realize you don't have to choose now (like other people already said).
also, you can start by taking a mix of the pre-reqs so you see which ones you really like, and then eventually branch out into one.

Are you Asian?

it's ok. the first couple life sci/ physical science classes u take will count as GEs. so, if you decide not to pursue bio, you have some GEs knocked out. also, the first few lower div history major classes are GEs. same deal. you have some time. . .

haha no i'm not asian... but thanks for the advice, it makes me feel a little less time crunched.

it's not that difficult compared to say....engineering....
