I don't want to study anymore. I just can't focus. I give up on life

how the **** can you get a degree in biology if you can’t solve
high school math problems, memorize some words, read some passages, know
some grammar rules, and write a short essay in 35 minutes. The things involved in
biology sound harder and more complicated than this.

where is short essay gonna get anyone?
suppose a doctor is performing a surgery at hospital, how in the world would short essay help him perform his job?
writing short essays will sure help a patient to survive from cancer or AIDS right?
as long as you can convince your ideas in the simple grammar and everyone understands it, there’s no need to know synonyms or antonyms or whatever.
Showing off your high level of vocabulary at your job? LOL, I wonder if any patient would understand it anyway.
I agree, Maths is kinda important though to some issues and thinking critically too ( to some extent)
UGH whatever, i am just playing and wondering

Agree w/copyxmkii.

Also, giving up on the SAT does not mean giving up on life. There are plenty of colleges that will accept you with a 1900. Google “colleges with the highest acceptance rate.”

^^ I’m just saying. It just doesn’t seem right that someone can perform surgery but cannot
write an essay in 35 minutes. I mean you got to know what your doing in surgery and it takes a long time and a lot of effort to become a surgeon. If you can’t learn how to write a short essay in 35 minutes, even if you hate it, then how can you become a surgeon. Its just writing not rocket science or should I say brain surgery in your case.

Instead of complaining about standardized tests, maybe you should be studying for them.

thanks sandwichgirl

Hey SandwichGirl,

Can I have your sandwich? I am starting to get hungry.

cyclopeggs life isnt easy.Sometimes we have to do things that are not pleasant. Many times I said to myself to give up but I didnt do it, I over it. I am international too and SAT I isnt the easiest part. But I m trying. If u want to succeed ur goals u have to try everyday until u achieve them. Its not easy I know especially when you r tired and your parents frustrating you.

If you cannot help urself then noone will can.I wish you good luck and have faith to ur abilities and particularly to urself. Its a hard trip that everyone takes or he/she had. We can accomplish our goals only if we try for them.

And also copyxmkii is right. Everything that we learn in school is helpful. For example the knowledge of economics can be helpful for someone who wants to be an engineer. Because some engineers want to open their own buisness so they have to know some things(how to manage a store or a company, how their store can be competative and such things).

Be patient and good luck again:)

lol, not exactly…

Think of the SAT as your friend instead of as an enemy.

I wish to be in situation like that guy. If compare his situation and mine, it’s quite different or as Russians say “sky and ground”. But my motivation, wish, decisions are strong and fatale. There isn’t a place worse than where I’ living. Pay for college is problem, yes I agree, but there’re a lot of aids, scholarships, and etc. How can my parents pay 20.000$ for year if they both earn 1.500$ for year? So, you must get a high score and pass SAT 2 in order to get financial aid and make your education free.
->But this forum is about preparation for the SAT, no for psychology consultation. Please, stop panic and go study.

You don’t need a high sat for financial aid. It depends on need. You only need it if you want to get merit scholarship offered by schools and other places, but there are some schools that do not have merit aid just need-based aid so at these schools your sat score doesnt matter.

if you set your emotions aside…
you can do better if you say you can.
you will do bad if you say you cant!
and dont forget there is no such thing as cant no matter how bad things are, only wont or dont want to.
so it is up to you. do you want to pass the test?
if you do, tell your parents to back off and take charge.
do you want to look back at this and :frowning: or
you get 1 shot and you get 1 aim.
so put on some music and think about it.
trust me, i brought my self up from nothing jest by the power of will!
good luck…

Think of the SAT as an enemy despise it but do not get tired of it. Try and think of The College Board as some big corporation that is making millions of dollars as more and more test takers perform poorly on the test. Try and Screw the CB and make the highest score you possible can.

Also you have to score well on the SAT if you want a shot a pursuing your major. What schools are you looking at ?
