I feel in love with New York...

when I visited there last week. I felt as if I really belong there and it was also when I decided to transfer to Columbia U.

I'm going to be attending Berkeley this fall, and probably major in Political Science or Classical Greek depending on how interesting these courses are. My high school college application wasn't quite astounding, especially compared to Ivy-league range. I did a few extracurricular activities(200 hours of volunteering, a few clubs and academic awards) but they are only in the school range. My SATs scores are quite low, 1760/2400 which might hinder my chances getting in to Columbia.

I know that transferring to the school is very competitive, but if you have any tips or information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Then apply to CUNY. Seriously, I was going to suggest applying to NYU when I read the first paragraph, but when I saw your SAT score I wondered whether you’d have a good shot there either.

Hum, I see but would you recommend me taking the SATs again?

From the looks of it, I’d say your SAT scores would take you out of the running unless you had a spectacular EC or hook…

So does this mean I’m pretty hopeless?

Pretty much. Consider it a coup you got into Berkeley with those scores and leave well enough alone.

just take the SATs again. idk. your chances are… like 2002 said…

I hate to say it, but you have no shot at Columbia. It’s rare enough for a freshman applicant to get in with a score under 1800; there is no way a transfer student could manage it. NYU may be a possibility, although again, that’s a low score for a transfer student. If you retake the SATs and get an 1800+ and then manage close to a 4.0 for your first year at Berkeley, you probably have a fair shot at NYU though.

Ouch. That hurt but thanks everyone.
