I feel like I chose the wrong school...

So last month I ended up committing to Chapman University as a creative producing major but now I’m scared I made the wrong choice. University of Miami gave me a lot more money and is a more selective, known school. Did I make the wrong choice? I chose chapman cause I was almost sure I wanted to work in the film/entertainment industry but now I’m realizing how difficult it is to find good, high-paying work in that field and I’m not even completely sure if it’s what I want to pursue. Please help! I need advice on what I should do now.

Nobody here can tell you what to do. If you are unhappy you can pursue a transfer but you will need to find affordable alternatives. It is unlikely that you will get merit aid as a transfer student.

@mel098 Lots of students have 'buyers remorse" for a time after committing to a college and declining the others. It is normal as it was a big decision. Give yourself some room and time to see what Chapman has to offer and build a life there. Your original pursuit of creative producing intrigued you. Try to attend Chapman, make good friends, take prerequisites so you can transfer later if you wish and take a production class. I think you may find you are just second guessing your original decision

I will add that In general I think it is a terrible idea to start one college with the intent of transferring out. This will stand in the way of your making meaningful friendships, developing relationships with professors, and getting involved on campus. Then if your transfer doesn’t work out as planned you will be really stuck. I’d go to the college you enrolled in with the intent of staying all four years. It is fine to throw in a couple of transfer applications but don’t count on it working out.

@mel098 Chapman’s an excellent school! Based on your other threads, if you could trade places with your November 2018 self you’d be THRILLED to be headed there in the fall. I agree with the other respondents that you may be suffering a little buyer’s remorse right now - that’s normal and if you search CC you’ll find you’re not alone. Shake it off and get excited about what lies ahead for you. Start making plans for Chapman and make the most of a great opportunity. Best of luck.
