Many schools are saying social security number in common app is required for financial aid (which I need) I’ve emailed the financial aid offices of all my schools but I only realized today and have ed/ea decisions coming out in 2 weeks or less. I have it attached to my FAFSA and CSS profile that I’ve submitted to the schools. Do you think this will make me ineligible for financial aid?? For context my ED school is Boston University if anyone has specific insight on what their financial aid office may do. Any insight is appreciated though!
You should be fine. The FA office can require a SSN but the admissions office cannot. As long as they can match your FAFSA to your application, you can still receive FA. If for some reason they can’t match your documents (your name is Jane Doe and your birthdate is 1/1/2006 and that’s the same info as 7 other applicants), they’ll ask for more information.
My kids never put their SSNs on general documents. Schools had no trouble matching them with their FA applications.
