I googled how to stand out on a chance thread. Didn't work..

Thanks for reading, I was wondering how good of a shot I have at getting in at Princeton. Which sounds amazing. And I want to go. Like soon. Really soon. Now. But really. The thought of going there makes me all jumpy and weird.

anyways.

Here are my stats:

Applying EA

White Male in Austin, Texas

FIRST GENERATION.

Weighted GPA: 105.98 (we have a weird 100 point scale..)
Unweighted GPA 3.8something.

Class Rank: 1 out of 535 at a very Competitive High School that sends many students each year to top colleges.

Classes I have taken/will take (We get 8 blocks of classes a year):
AP World History
AP Calc. BC
AP Environmental Science
AP Chemistry
AP English 3
AP English 4
AP U.S History
AP Government
AP Economics
AP Spanish Language
AP Spanish Lit.
and all other classes are Honors Classes

SAT scores
Typically around 2250 and upwards

Extra Curricular Activities (a small amount of these haven't happened yet. ):

Freshman Class Vice President
Sophomore Class President
Junior Class Vice President
Student Body President senior year
Science Competitions (plan on going to district/state level this year) 3 years

Implementing a program to have each grade commit to a service cause each year, grade-wide.(Really exciting stuff!).
National Honor Society
NHS Vice President senior year
Bank of America Student Leaders Internship.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to be frank with me, I won't get offended. And feel free to offer up other suggestions/possible schools for me to consider especially if I am aiming way too high.

I really look forward to your response! I’ve posted 3 chance threads in the past couple of days and no one responds :frowning:

Thank you so much for reading! I would really, really like to know what you think!

i think you have a great chance of getting in! esp because of your strong grades, leadership positions, etc. :)

Thank you! That means a lot to me!

All other responses will be appreciated as well.

Your stats are really impressive! You’ve got very good chances, in my eyes.

Could you expand a bit more on your ECs, though? Student Government and Science Competitions seem to stand out as themes (alongside some service), but with only the titles listed, it’s a bit difficult to gauge the level of commitment/passion put into each activity.

Of Course I can!

Freshman Class Vice President
Sophomore Class President
Junior Class Vice President
Student Body President senior year

I got very involved in these class office positions, i.e: officer meetings every week, planning chapter projects, implementing successful events, advertising these events. Basically what I am trying to say is that these weren’t just titular positions, I actually got to do stuff.

Science Competitions (plan on going to district/state level this year) 3 years

State-wide competitions that I have to study a great deal for. Making it to the state level is a big deal and will get you some scholarships. We have practice sessions before each competition. I plan on being team captain this year.

Head of School’s Social Events Committee sophomore year

Planning school dances and social events was completely up to me. i.e: buying decorations, getting others involved in decorating, handling a budget, etc.

Head of School’s Community Service Committee junior year

This is where I really got to shine. I love giving back to my community, and through this I got the chance to facilitate community involvement for both myself and my peers. Planned TONS of projects. It was really great. I’ll probably emphasize this one on my application because I put so much into it.

Class Ambassador to the Principle 3 years.

Each grade and club has an ambassador. I represented my graduating class each year. We actually make really big decisions on things that majorly affect the student body. i.e: exam exemptions, parking situations, alumni relations, etc. Pretty neat to have done.

Robotics Team 2 years.
general robot stuff. haha.

Summer job, tutoring elementary school kids at a community center

This was also one that I loved. I worked around 6 hours a week at a summer program for children who had learning disabilities and were falling behind. Really rewarding!

Organizing School partnership with local special olympics

Organized school-wide coat drive for homeless people 2 years running.

Organized school-wide partnership with a soup kitchen for homeless people 2 years running.

Created and Implemented a student to student tutorial service

Creating a grade-level community service hour competition

This will be great! Each grade will select a cause to dedicate some time to, and we will have a competition to see who gets the most hours/money for their cause.

National Honor Society

NHS Vice President senior year

Organize meetings, service/chapter projects etc.

Bank of America Student Leaders Internship.

Get to work with a non-profit organization as an intern and then attend a leadership summit in DC.

I hope this helps! Thanks for reading, I really appreciate it! And feel free to offer up any other schools you would think I should probably look into. If it helps I am looking into majoring in civil engineering. With a minor/double major in a foreign language. Thanks again! It’s always great to have someone else’s opinion!
