I am currently a De Anza Student hoping to transfer for Fall 2019. I applied as an Applied Mathematics major for UC Berkeley. I took Physics 4A in order to substitute for a GE requirement and ended up getting a D in. It was not a major requirement for the major. I am currently enrolled in a different class to fulfill the class requirement for the GE. I still meet the minimum requirement of a 3.0 GPA. How will it impact my application? Should I retake the class?
They don’t like Ds. No one can give you a concrete answer, but the first sentence I wrote is very accurate, as is the last:
They * really * don’t like Ds.
be sure you comply with the UC requirements to notify them
You can likely do this in your mid-year update. You don’t want to be in a position where they only find out about this grade during the summer; if they then revoke your admission you’ll have no 4-year college to attend.
BTW if it was me and I thought I could pass the class if I retook it, that’s what I’d do since if you repeat the class it replaces the earlier grade.
