I got a five on the AP exam, should I ask the teacher of this subject for rec letter?

I must admit AP Biology is the hardest subject for me to get an "A" in. So I maintained a low A throughout this class, nonetheless I received a 5 on the exam. So do you guys think I should get my biology teacher from my junior year to write me a rec letter?

Will he be able to write a good letter of recommendation for you? If not find another teacher.

That’s the problem, I don’t know if he’s able to write me a good LOR.

Talk to him and see how he responds, is he excited to write one or is just kind of so-so about writing it.

he’s so-so, it’s hard to imagine how a teacher can be “excited” to write one.

It would be better to ask a teacher who knows you more than who you are in class. If you do not “shine” in his class or talk to him outside of class, then it would be a bit difficult for him to write you a good rec. A five is not enough to put on a letter of rec.

not necessarily
