Should I ask this teacher for a letter of recommendation?

Hi all,

So I'm going to be a high school senior next year, and have been thinking about which teachers I should ask for my letters of rec. I was planning on asking my AP English Language teacher for one of them, but I've recently reconsidered that. I just got my AP test scores, and got a 3 on it. I'm still very surprised, because even though I got a B- second semester, I (barely) got a 5 on his final. This was according to his grading scale, which was supposed to give us an accurate representation of what we could expect as our AP test score. Putting my score aside, I feel like I have a fairly good relationship with him. I'm a decently active participant in class, I ask questions when I'm unsure of certain things, and have come in after school/lunch to get additional guidance on other things in his class as well. Overall, I feel like I'm on good terms with this teacher. Knowing all this, should I still ask this teacher for a letter of rec?

Thanks!

Of course you should ask him for a LOR. After all, it seems like you have gotten to know your teacher well and vice versa.

i say go for it! colleges look for ur performance inside the classroom more than ur actual grade. having a good relation is better than getting all A+s but having the teacher who knows nothing about u

Are you sure he even knows what you got? My AP English Language and Comp. teacher, for example, refuses to look at her students’ scores (lucky for me; I only got a 3  )
