Colgate, Hamilton College, Bucknell University, George Washington University, RPI, Northeastern, Georgetown

I got accepted to these schools. First rank them in general, than rank them by greatness of economics department if you're able to. Here is how I ranked them, but this is a total guess, and I know basically nothing. I am really desperate, and really, really, really need A LOT of help in narrowing down the list, and eventually choosing one school.

General
1. Georgetown
2. Hamilton College
3. Colgate
4. George Washington
5. Bucknell
6. RPI
7. Northeastern

Greatness of Economics Department
1. Bucknell
2. George Washington
3. Georgetown
4. Hamilton
5. RPI
6. Colgate
7. Northeastern

well obviously hamilton is number 1 in general greatness!!
1. Hamilton.
2. All of the other schools.

(My real answer is that everything depends on what you want from a school... everyone is going to have a different opinion than you. visit all of the campuses and get a feel for the schools.)

"visit all of the campuses"

I wish I could do that, but I do not have the time nor the money nor the permission of my parents to do that. I can at most visit 2-3 schools they said, so I need to really narrow that list down to at least 2-3 schools so that I can eventually visit them and decide on 1.

well do you want:
A small school or big school?
Rural or city?
Cold or warm weather?
Competitive or friendly?
Extremely difficult or moderately difficult curriculum?

If I were you, I'd visit Hamilton and Colgate in one trip (they are .5 of an hour from each other).
And I'd visit Georgetown and GW in another trip because they are close to each other.

when you step on to the right campus, you'll feel the magic!

And go to the school that you think has the best overall greatness-- you want to be happy for the next for years.

To be honest, an Economics Degree from Hamilton, Bucknell, GW, Georgetown, Colgate, Northeastern, and RPI will all look the same in the professional world.

And congrats for getting into all these great schools!!!

What do you want to do with the econ major? Are you interested in the financial/investment banking field?
Generally speaking, Georgetown is hands down the best of the universities in that group, and I would probably say Colgate is the best of the liberal arts colleges (even though it calls itself a university).
I think your job placement prospects out of either would be great.
All in all, Georgetown is the most respected school nationally. If you like that size and atmosphere, I'd go there. If not, I'd go to Colgate (or possibly Hamilton).
I would never choose GW, RPI or Northeastern over the other options.

I agree with your ranking completely, well not the greatness of the business program. Personally, i think that if you want a large university Gtown is ideal, but a small university, then Hamilton is. According to US news and WR Hamilton and Colgate are tied (@17) but I think that Hamilton is colossally better because of its small student body and student and professor's close relations (not to mention the fact that it has an awesome orientation program!!!). Although Colgate's student body rather small also, during my visits to both of them I felt that Hamilton was a much closer and warmer community. I live near Bucknell, it's okay, but it doesn't have all of the opportunities that Gtown, Hamilton and Colgate do...

It all depends on (forgive me for my tackiness) where you feel at home. Overall you need to use your own discretion.

Note: Planes are constantly flying overhead at Georgetown and it's really obnoxious. I'm just putting that out there haha
