Just got admitted at 3am!
GPA 3.951
Criminology Law & Society Major! =)

3.951 damn
u could have gotten into Berkeley@!

It kind of sucks how the field just keeps getting increasingly more and more competitive. But anyways congrats on getting in.

congrats! so does anyone know when UCI will be done posting decisions?

YAY just got in tooo. ....Finally I can say i have been admitted and stop checking my mail every 5 seconds and take my web page of auto-refresh.lol

Nooooooooooo!!!! I have not yet been admitted omg omg omg

Adamantine- You're not the only one... don't stress out! =]

Post the first letter of your last name people, we know the OP is Kevin C. Who knows? Perhaps it's alphabetical, just throwing ideas out there.

I highly doubt that it's alphabetical =] but my last name starts with a V so who knows, haha.

It's not likely for them to absolutely randomly review the applications. Because that requires that they put in the effort to make the system spit out random applications. Why would they implement such a system in the first place? I see no beneficial and valid reason for them to do so. If so, then there is some kind of a pattern that is followed, even if it isn't intentional. We have proved that the applications are not fed based on their received date, we have proved the same for the update application received date. It's obvious that it's not going down in GPA from top to bottom, and recently we can take notice that it's also likely not based on IGETC/TAP certification, so the next reasonable guess is that the applications are compiled in the datebase alphabetically, and the OP's last name does indeed starts with a C.

Obsessive much? Maybe, but it's a puzzle, and I like puzzles.

P.S. Geographical locations and CCC attended are not ruled out yet. Most people that have been accepted seems to be in the geographical proximity of Irvine.

My last name begins with an E and I live about 35 miles from Irvine

My Last name begins with "V"

Turn in apps on Nov. 30th.
Turn in Update apps. on Jan 31.

GPA 3.951
I live in Norcal, Cupertino!
Admitted to Irvine on Wed. March 5th at 3:00am

I'm pretty sure Irvine goes by GPA

From my experiences back in HS, UCI tends to send out all those admitted before they send out rejection. However, its still way early in the process so if you haven't heard from them yet, don't worry.

op is 3.7

i'm 3.8 w/ no word

maybe gpa and major?

I can Guarantee you it is not by GPA. Because There are several 4.0's here and I know quite a few students 3.9-4.0s including myself that have not gotten e-mails from UCI yet.

It's random...recall that we didn't apply to the campuses themselves, but rather to the UCAP organization. UCAP serves the specific function of handling all applications--I was told by a UCAP rep on the phone that the UC's don't even see the date of submission for the applications...merely an "on time" or "late" designation.

Given that UCAP handles all this, I cannot imagine that it would be very hard for them to send the applications to the schools in a random order.

and while someone noted that it seemed like more and more rejections were coming out from UCI at the end, I know of a couple people in HS who got in at the very last notification date as well. so don't stress! there is hope!

^^ One of the above posts disproves my alphabetical theory. Time to work up another obsessive theory ........ =P

P.S. I'm pretty sure everybody that's motivated enough to care about this thread has no problem getting in. But it'd be fun to beat the system.

Do you think that I would get a late designation on my application if I re-updated my application after the deadline?

**** i didnt think about that -- i accidentally reupdated after the deadline also

Hey I'm guessing that since I am A UC-UC transfer that I'll be the last to know?

THis sucks!

thedude and rshaan, I'm a 100% positive that the answer to your question is no. Remember, they say that we would be able to change our update application even after feb 15th, and that it would be fine.
