I got my scores but I seriously doubt the credibility of the results. It says I got 3 answers wrong on maths and I got a 740? I double checked my paper and redoubled with like 15 minutes remaining? How is that possible?

Hard math curve.

All of the tests are curved depending on how well people do.

I was saying I doubt I get more than 1 question wrong… but never mind. So a hard curve means what?

You could always get your test to be rescored if you think you got only one wrong.
A hard curve means that even if you get a small amount of answers wrong (as you did) your score will be relatively lower.

So why is that, because many other people did better? That sucks…

I think I’m gonna kill myself. =(

1920… I was like so sure of a 2000+. ='(

Well it’s not relative to the amount of people who get a high score. The curve is developed before the test (strangely enough in my opinion)
That sucks :(

what was your raw math score?

50 or 51

It’s really easy to make a mistake, review your answers and calculations and still not see it. I agree that the scoring is wierd. My son got one wrong on both the reading and math, but his scores were 800 and 780 respectively. He didn’t do quite so good on the writing…

wow that’s actually a gentle curve compared to when I took mine in June 2009!

I had 2 wrong and got a 740. A friend of mine got 3 wrong so a 710…

got seriously f-ed on that one…

Don’t worry too much though, colleges see how many you got wrong, so from that they’ll have an understanding of how well you did in addition to your scaled score.

Maths is like my best subject, and I didn’t do any revision on it since it was like grade 7 maths to us over here. Every question went perfectly fine without hesitation.

The SAT is quite tricky sometimes, especially at math. The answer may come across as straightforward at first, but it might be a trick question. Because of this, you may have gone through a question very quickly because you assumed it was easy and then never checked it again because you were confident it was correct.
