I had submitted the PFS based on 2012 information, but some schools want 2013 tax info done quite early (as early as 2/10 in one case). I'm very pleased with myself for getting it all done and uploading it last night. (We're not going to file yet, because we owe the IRS quite a bit; we're self-employed and haven't been paying enough during the year.) The bad part is that our income looks higher than last year because we took money out of our retirement account so that we could pay our income and real estate taxes. I wonder how that would be handled in determining FA. I think we will have to do it again this year to pay the income taxes. :-(

AHah! That’s what we should be doing while obsessing and worrying about outcomes!
Don’t post on CC till you are done with taxes!
Maybe not, it would be eerily quiet, some may not be able to post till 10/15

Twinsmama,

There is an area on the PFS where you can explain special circumstances and unusual expenses for the year. I feel like the schools really try to get an accurate picture.

I also wrote up a basic statement explaining our income (which is not all on 1099s) and uploaded it…then uploaded the “final corrected” version…THEN uploaded the “USE THIS ONE final corrected” version (they won’t let you delete mistakes, alas).
