I got my tentative Financial Aid package and...

The folder it came in says "for Class of 2014." This is because I was accepted early and they didn't make folders for Class of 2015 yet, right?

Also, the letter itself says that I am subject to verification and that my financial aid award might change. Am I supposed to initiate the verification or will they ask me? Also, when 2010 tax returns come out, am I supposed to fill out the financial aid application all over again, or do I need to send in just the new tax returns? And if I'm an international student, should I apply for my I-20 now or should I wait until my financial aid is finalized in 2011?

Well I’m an international student and I received the same “for the Class of 2014” folder…I think they probably wanted to save some money lol.

At least for me, it says that I only need to send in my tax returns for 2010 ASAP…sometime before 3/1.

are you waiting for your FA to be finalized to apply for the I20?

um I don’t think I’ll be applying for the I20 because I am currently living in the U.S. (have been since 7th grade) on a different visa.

btw where are you from?

No need to worry. Mine said Class of 2013 on my first package after I was accepted ED.

Don’t apply for the I-20 now. It’s too early. There’s a condition on the I-20 where you have to apply for it within a certain amount of time from the day you will enroll at Penn.

What you’ve been doing in the U.S. has nothing to do with it unless you are in U.S. as an immigrant.

geekorathletic, I think you can apply for the I-20 whenever, but you can’t use it any earlier than 30 days before the start of classes. Correct me if I’m wrong. Either way, how long does it take for the I-20 to actually be processed and sent to me?

Actually, you might be right. It’s been awhile for me, so little details have become clouded.

If I remember right, it took a few weeks for me.

EDIT: you’re right. You need to apply for I-20 right away. Says here:

geekorathletic - which brings me to my original question…how am I supposed to apply for the I-20 right away if they haven’t given me a finalized financial aid letter?

Just use what they gave you. I did and I’m still here.

geek - where are you from?

I live in the U.S.

Now you do…I was asking where you had applied from.
