I was rejected by NYU Wagner. :(. However, I was accepted into Rutgers University. Great school! I just found out NYU has a continuing education school, School of Professional Studies. Do you think it’s advantageous to apply for that program considering it hails the NYU name? Honest feedback please. Thanks!
No. What did you intend to major in? Real Estate? Applied General Studies? The value of the NYU name is Way overstated by HS students.
global affairs…you think NYU is overhyped? why?
NYU is a great school. However, I do agree that it’s overhyped. I think the reason is because it’s located in New York, which seems to be a dream living location for a lot of college-bound seniors. They have this fantasy in their head of living in New York and doing all the New York things. NYU’s right at the heart of it in Greenwich Village. Because of that, NYU’s been able to attract some excellent students that wouldn’t attend the university if it were located in Podunk, and it’s overall risen the status of the school.
That said, the SPS at NYU is really originally designed for students who are full-time working professionals and/or returning to college after a long hiatus (so non-traditional students). The majors are limited to either very specialized, pre-professional majors or really broad majors that are easily completed with a wide variety of classes (and thus well-suited for a working professional who just needs ANY BA to get a pay raise or promotion at work). You can’t major in global affairs at SPS.
Rutgers is a great school. You should go there, or wait for other acceptances that may roll in.
Isn’t the school for professional students at NYU for adults gong part time?
Also, isnt Wagner a graduate school - do you have a BS degree? What GPA? What GRE score?
Wagner also has an undergraduate program.
