I have gotten rejected from Northwestern ED Medill, Tulane, Wellesley “unlikely”, and today uchicago (which was my all time favorite choice) and mount Holyoke. The only place I got accepted so far was DePaul in Chicago which was my safety and they gave me 18,000 per year merit scholarship. I still have to hear back from Bryn Mawr, Barnard, Smith, Umass, and USC. Does it not look to promising? I had an alumna interview for Barnard which very well, and she said that my inquisitiveness had quite the effect on her, and that she was impressed by me. I had also told my interviewer and explained in my essays that Barnard was my first choice. (Now it really is first choice since I was rejected from uchicago). I am also a minority (biracial, but on the common app I checked off “black” but explained I was biracial in my common app essay). I just honestly don’t know what to expect anymore. (I’m not going to post my stats, because it is WAY too long, and you can probably find them somewhere on CC)

Hey!
I was also rejected from Northwestern in December… But u know what, sometimes things happen for a reason. When I think about it, i’m glad that I wasnt accepted to NU ED because i realized that i didn’t want to study engineering at all! (Architecture is more suitable for me, and NU doesn’t even offer architecture…)

So my point is, if u don’t get into some schools, just look at it differently. This may sound too optimistic but you didn’t get in because the school wasn’t a good fit for you, academically or socially. You probably wouldn’t find what u expected from the school and be unhappy… (ofc, this is just my way of making myself feel better, and it usually works for me. Hahaha )

About the issue related to your Barnard app… Even though u were rejected from alot of good schools, this doesn’t mean that u’ll be rejected from ALL the good schools u applied to. A friend of mine got rejected from UChic, but got accepted to MIT (pre-med), for example.
So, what I mean is, schools look for different things in their applicants. So I really think that u should be hopeful! Especially if ur interview went that well! =D

Good luck!

I wasn’t accepted to Tulane either, which really makes me nervous. I wasn’t even worried about getting in there because my grades/sats were easily in the accepted range from my school. but I think this year they got more selective…I did that app in one night and it wasn’t one of my top choices so I didn’t show any interest either. I think they knew that and rejected me. (not saying it wasn’t because I just wasn’t good enough…that’s totally possible too! haha but i really think that they’re trying to accept less applicants this yr)

anyway, point is if barnard is your top choice and you showed that in your app, hopefully they will see that! I’m nervous for the same reason but every app and every school is different. Good luck!!

Thanks for the posts! and @lorrainedelis I did the same thing for Tulane. I did the app in one night on a whim, and I didn’t show that much interest. Even if I had gotten in, I would not have attended, I kind of applied for the heck of it. But Barnard, Smith and Bryn Mawr I am crossing fingers for…

well good luck, I can’t wait to hear where you go!

I was rejected from Northwestern and Vanderbilt, and waitlisted at Boston College and Wash U. However, I received my Barnard acceptance in the mail today (which, of course, was my top choice.) Don’t lose hope.

congrats theatregirl! :)

and 2015hopeful: I wanted to go out of state (i live in tx) and I got rejected from nyu, gwu, tulane, and waitlisted at bu. I have decent (though not stellar at all) grades and a good SAT, good ECs w/ some leadership positions, heavy courseload, etc etc and I didn’t get in anywhere besides my safeties (which are in state! ughhhh)…so don’t feel bad…it’s no fun to get rejections but hopefully you’ll end up somewhere you like let me know what happens! good luck :)
