<p>Everytime I take a practice test, the only way I can get a super high score (2000-2100+), is when I take my time trying to figure out the answer to the question. But when I try to study in a real time situation, I usually score low on the CR (500's-600) because I usually have to read out loud and try to see and understand what is actually being said. The math problem isn't really an issue (because it's mostly about the methods on how to do the problem, so its easy). I know someone is going to recommend me Grammatix or something, but that's not it. It's kind of like a habit.</p>

<p>I sort of have the same problem, except only in math. In general, I think you should try taking a test practice test with 5 extra minutes on the critical reading (or a little more, if you really need it) and try it that way. Then, try to gradually do it under timed conditions. Of course, this is assuming you have time before you take the actual SAT. The good news is that you seem to understand what you are reading, even if it takes you more time. It is much easier to think faster and conform to timed conditions than it is to answer a question on a passage you don’t understand at all. </p>
