I totally agree with DannyLS3, I mean if you really are not going to major in something that relates to math, then why would anybody want to keep going to higher levels in math? I say the highest level of math one should take if they're not going to major in something math related is precalculus or maybe even trig. And yea I found it ironic that precalc was actually a harder class for me than Calc AB, probably because my precalc teacher showed no mercy when it came to grading tests

Maybe your teacher is trying to get you think more critically instead of just doing the same problems as your homework with just different numbers on your tests?

That's how I feel about English and history.

i get that for chem
its so dumb
i study the hw and i look at the test and its something 10x harder
its the teachers fault
who else to blame

to jman: no we don't....we use a book with a rock on it (still dont get why) by michael sullivan

ahh.. i remember last year i took precalc. i failed a test and was like ***. so i went to my teacher and asked him how i did in comparison to everyone else. my test turned out to me the 2nd best in the class. so i asked him if he would curve it. he told me, "of course not," and flipped me off

good old days :]

sorry to tell you but there is no such thing as second best.

"but on the tests
out teacher gives us problems we've never seen before and expects us to know how to do them"

Wait, so normally, tests are supposed to have questions you've all seen before?

I was going to defend the applicability of math...but after trying to come up with why the edge-connectivity of certain graphs matter, I gave up.

thecalccobra: you make no sense, because -- yea, there is. the person who scored better than me still failed. and there IS something as 'second best' even in curves, which is why teachers often drop the highest and lowest scores before curving.

Well actually, I think english and maybe history are crucial, so it is important to progress in those areas especially in english because it will always be important wherever one goes.

um sorry to tell you this but acctually math is used where ever you go.....no matter what you major in, your still going to do taxes and morgages etc.

k

Yea, all careers use math. I could argue that I don't need to take english because I already know how to write/read and my planned major doesn't require much english anyway.

lately
to study

i do my homework when im supposed to

and then
before i tests
i have a cram session (maybe over a few days) where i redo all my homework assignments

then i read all the text in the chapter ive been covering in my books
and do some more practice problems

oh

and the tests would be much easier if they werent timed, but they are so u cant really recheck ur work unless u finish really early

"how different is it between honor-precalc and precalc??
cause im taking precalc and i dont study outside of class except hw and im easily managing to get an a(96%)"

at my school, Honors pre calc is much harder than pre calc

its actually supposed to be harder than Calculus at my school

i wish i had taken pre calc instead.

I have three friends in regular pre calc adn when they need help they just come to me and i can help them.

in honors pre calc at my school we go about 4 times faster then regular pre calc (no joke)

I've never been -that- good at Math, but for some reason I find H Pre-calc really easy. I never have to study... and I have received 100's on the past five quizzes. Now, I'm not trying to brag- I've never been like this before. I have NEVER been a Math person. All of a sudden, though, it was as if I cracked some sort of code, and I just 'got' Math. It's a nice feeling =)

I like precalc; it was pretty fun when we were learning about all about functions the first semester. Trig is fun too, but harder for me. Now I actually have to study. At least I have a good textbook.
