I have chosen Dartmouth over ....

Last year these schools were most often cited on CC as bypassed by D’12 students.

WUStL (10)
UChicago (9)
Northwestern (8)
Cornell (8)
Penn including Wharton (7)
Duke (6)
Williams (6)
URochester (6)
Johns Hopkins (5)
UVA (5)
Columbia (5)

Yeah, I guess Duke and Dartmouth both wanted the same sort of people. I actually chose Dartmouth without a visit over Duke with a visit(I liked the campus but…) so I am hoping I made the right choice. My family just couldn’t afford any more visits and neither could my schoolwork.

Haha monnrolobo, If you’re worried about dartmouth’s campus, In my opinion it won hands down to several other colleges. It’s very centralized, and beautiful in the nature aspect. If you like the outdoors you’ll love the campus.

monroylobo: I did the exact same thing. I visited Duke for Blue-Devil Days and did NOT visit Dartmouth. Right after the Duke visit (around April 10) I thought I was for sure going to Duke. In the following 20 days of talking to ppl and reconsidering my visit, I gradually shifted over to Dartmouth’s side.

Hope I made the right choice! But either way, you can’t go wrong right?

Ah crap…I hate the outdoors. What did I get myself into!? I should’ve taken Columbia’s offer of admission! On a serious note though, I only hear good things about D’mouth and everybody seems to love it that goes or went so that affected my decision.

I visited Cornell, Bates, Colby, and Middlebury days, and Dartmouth Dimensions was hands down the best weekend EVER! There were more activities and fun things to do than there was time, and the students there really work hard to encourage you to come. The '13 welcome night was, understatedly, FANTASTIC!

I find this thread very interesting: I just turned down Dartmouth for Penn, but it was a difficult decision. Another poster, apatel_66, did as well, and I’ve been trying to notice a trend about fit or interest. I guess it’s the greenery.

Chlormel–aren’t you on the waitlist for some of the schools you mentioned (e.g., Middlebury)? If so, then you haven’t been accepted, so you can’t actually turn them down.

Ouch. Do you guys go and look up people’s stats to verify this sort of stuff?

For monroylobo:

Disclaimer: Do not take anything written on an essentially anonymous website as hard facts, as any and all information is subject to response bias and straight up lies.

Well, I’m pulling off their waitlists but if that doesn’t count then let me get my stats off the update list.
