I have given in.

I've been avoiding this for a long time, but finally I have given in to a "chances thread." My two top choices are UCLA and UC Berkeley. So, without further ado, what are my chances?

UC GPA: 4.17
UW 10-11 GPA: 3.89
SAT1: 2090 (720 W, 720 R, 650 M)
SAT II:
-Lit: 660
-Math II: 700

7 AP (Bio, Stat, English 11, English 12, Spanish, Calculus, Computer Programming) and 1 Honors (Chem)

In State (East Bay Area), public school, rank top 5%, undecided major

ECs:
Coached an AYSO soccer team 2 years
Played soccer 12 years (3 years club, 3 years JV High School (1 year captain))
Co-President of CSF, last year Vice President, 4 year member
Volunteer Coordinator of InterACT, 3 year member
2 1-week mission trips to Tijuana with my church group
4 years Mock Trial
Youth Advisory Board Member for Youthnoise.com, a site dedicated to getting youth involved in politics and community service, 2 years
Youthnoise Board Moderator, 2 years
Work at Jamba Juice, 1 year
American Cancer Society Relay for Life Volunteer (2 relays)
Campaigned for John Kerry in 2004 (held signs on side of the road election day- it counts!)

So yeah, let me know also what I can do better. What SATIs/SATIIs should I have? Thanks a bunch.

Since you're in state, I'd say:

Berkeley: Slight reach
UCLA: Slight reach

You have the GPA and EC's, and your SAT scores are close to on-par but not exceptional. My guess is that, without retaking your SATs, you will get into either Cal or LA. Good luck.

Thanks for your input. Anyone else?

I think your subject tests need raising, I wouldn't worry about the SATI scores too much

katalinacmnacha8:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach

You are on the cusp, it could go either way. Your essay will really matter, make it brilliant.

You have really failed to calm my fears.

i think you have a good chance for ucla, but berkely is a reach

All right, can you guys tell me which I have a better chance of getting into, UCLA or Berkeley?

You will get into UCLA

Okay, apparently I miscalculated my GPA. I actually have a 4.19 weighted, and like a 3.88 unweighted. How does this change my standings?
