It's about time I figured this out...

I just discovered why I kept messing up. I was not OVERANALYZING. But, I failed to think about what each answer choice meant. In a rush I dismissed them at a whim.

There. I think the most important advice on critical reading passages is to consider what each answer choice means in the context of the passage, do not dismiss a choice without KNOWING logically why it is wrong; when I saw the explanations for my practice test, my mistakes became more than obvious to me.

What practice tests did you use the kaplan, princeton review, collegeboard??

Hey, Hyper2400, you're catching on! It's all about the answer choices...

bump for any other visitors to this forum

My best peace of advice is:
Pick the answer choice that you have to explain the least. Like if you're between two, but one of them you have to reason out extensively, pick the other.

Yup, because if you have to reason too much, the answer is often too far-fetched to be supported by the passage.

Any tips on getting better on the last 3 in a set of sentence completions. I have come to expect to miss a couple of the hard ones every section which dampers my skills in reading passages. I know sentence completion is harder to fix than passages but any tips?
