I didn’t keep track how many hours I spent shadowing last summer. I am a rising sophomore so I’m new to all of this and I didn’t know we had to keep track of this. I honestly cannot remember how many total weeks and hours per week it was because some weeks the doctor didn’t have a clinic and some days I was able to stay longer than others. It was a pretty random schedule. Should I just record a very rough estimate? I can’t call the clinic and ask because no one there kept track of my shadowing.
A rough estimate is all you need. Come up with a number and run it by whomever was responsible for you (i.e. whoever’s name will go on AMCAS for the activity as your supervisor or whatever it’s called now). Once you and this person agree on a number that you both feel is right that becomes the number. Record it somewhere for when you apply in two years or later so you don’t forget again.
