My school only lets a select few take honors and AP, you can't choose if you want an AP or honor they choose it for you. My school runs on favoritism. I had to push hard to get into AP US, they didn't let me take AP World His, even though my teacher recommended it. I'm not the only one complaining about it, other kids are to. Now it's gonna look bad that I took one out of a possible four APs at my school, and zero honors. Will colleges see that as a bad thing? because it isn't my fault I didn't get a chance to "challenge" myself. I did apply for AP English Literature for Senior yr, hopefully I don't have to run around pulling strings just to challenge myself and learn.

This would be something great to use as a topic for your college essays. I’m not sure what the best way to do this would be, but you could figure that out.

Self-Study a few APs? You can’t blame it entirely on your school.

Make a note of it on your apps (I wouldn’t take up essay space on it), but try not to sound like you’re blaming them. And yes, try to self-study some.

Your school should have a profile they send to colleges along with applications, and this information should be included on their profile.
